Pulls ideas together so well, and keeps you thinking

March 5, 2022

It would be hard to tell you the ideas here are revolutionary, but Damon’s skill is in pulling them together into a cohesive whole. For anyone struggling with too much in their lives, and managing the baggage that comes with it (which is most of us), this offers an introspection into how to live with that burden. How to appreciate yourself and just…let things go.

Let go of your past and achieve more The Art of Letting GO PDF

March 19, 2022

The reasons for us not achieving more or being happy in life are many, and one of which is that we hang on too long and too tight to our past, be glorious or grieving one. If we can let go of grief over loss of a loved one, or failed relationship, or unachieved career goals, or judgement of others, or even past successes that identify us and limit us, our road in front is much brighter and wider. “The Art of Letting Go” is an important book that could change your life.

The author uses his usual style of clear and simple writing, letting you focus on the clear message and ideas. In addition, he goes beyond the normal items when people talk about things to let go, such as grief, and he highlights top 20 things in everyday life that truly limit our potential for achieving more. For example, the fear of failure “immobilizes us” — making us not taking risks and trying new things. Other examples are others’ judgement and others opinions of us. If we value too much on how others think of us, we risk of seeking others’ approval and validation for our decisions and actions, that may not be consistent with our own values and interest.

I like Damon’s books a lot because he always not only tells you what you need to do and why you need to do, but also tells you how and gives concrete steps to practice and execute. This book is no exception. It has three distinctive sections, what, why and how. In the how section, he has suggested more than 20 strategies and exercises to master the art of letting go.The Art of Letting GO PDF

I like more of the activities that integrate personal reflections with physical activities. But I found that these strategies and exercises are not as systematic as they could have been. For example, one of the reasons that we cannot let go of negative experiences in the past is our fear of change, of getting worse, of uncertainty. But how can we overcome this monster called fear? Maybe venturing out with a baby step, limited risk step?

Overall, good book. It sure will make us think and take action to go beyond our past.

My favorite book by Damon so far

March 15, 2022 The Art of Letting GO PDF

I have read many of Damon’s books and for me this is my favorite so far! The content was well organized and very easy to understand. I do have to say that I read the book from the beginning to end without doing the exercises. Now it is time to go back and do the work! The actions all made sense to me and I am really looking to the next few weeks as I complete each of the actions to get the benefits they offer. I expect that I will come out the other end of this experience with the ability to also get more benefit from Damon’s other books around productivity! Excellent work, Damon! Keep them coming!

Succinct and practical guide to getting rid of negative thoughts and baggage

March 15, 2022

This is a self-help book without all the fluff. If you want a straight-forward path to get past the negative thoughts and situations that are dragging you down, the practical exercises in this book should help. The book explains what letting go means, the most common reasons we struggle to let go, and then gives 21 practical exercises to help you let go.
I read the entire book to get the gist of the author’s method, and I am now working through the exercises. I’ve realized in mid-life that I have beliefs and habits that aren’t helping me live the life I want to have. I’m hoping this book will help me identify these things and let go.
I received a free copy of this book. However, I believe this book will help many people who may be turned off by the touchy-feely nature of many self-help books. The Art of Letting GO PDF
