I bought this book for a class but it is such a good read and a good book for anyone interested in gaining a little more knowledge on emotional intelligence and how to deal with different kinds of people. There are small quizzes inside to help you gain a sense of your emotional intelligence and the book can help you know how what you do affects others so that you can be a better person to relate with.

I have searched for therapists high and low to help bring some understanding to myself and my emotional maturity. I struggle with reactivity and anger and often times this leaks into my relationships and I end up being a hinderance. I can honestly say I have been reading this book every day and although I know there’s more work to be done internally than just reading this book. This has been the lightest second step into the process that I’ve ever been able to reach. After reading this I did not find myself having to tell myself I changed or am changing because I can physically feel the difference in understanding this book. Crust punk and others!!

For the underdeveloped male emotional perspective, the lackluster emotionally available crust punk, or just the garden variety introspective human bean, this is a must read. Please, PLEASE pick this book up and give it a whirl, everyone these days needs to understand that they are accountable for their own feels and not others.

Great introduction to the topic. The book, small as it is manages to use intellectual, instead of popular rhetoric to introduce the topic to a wider audience. Was recommended to read this by my Professor, on the MSc Project Management course I am doing,. I was rather surprised as it seems to be at firs the usual self help type of book, but tuned out to be offering much more as a simple paperback, bot yet finished, but have enjoyed reading it so far. Introducing Emotional Intelligence: A Practical Guide
Really good, so I bought it in both paperback and Kindle format. I don’t know about you but I have bought self improvement books in the past and got so frustrated with them that they stay largely unread on my shelf. This is not one of those. The first part of the book presents ideas about why emotional intelligence is important and what it is. I knew a bit of that from other reading but didn’t really understand the significance until I read the examples and activities which this book contains. The best bits of the book are the last two thirds with clear explanations and helpful ideas around stress, conflict and most importantly, raising kids. The author doesn’t treat you like a moron and presents some complicated ideas in a very straightforward way. Highly recommended
