The Authors

Your Simplest Life By Lisa Turner PDF

Lisa P. Turner, MBA, Sc.D., a certified Lean Institute Black Belt in business productivity with a doctorate in Management Science, Turner is more than qualified to advise both businesses and individuals on how to get the most out of a day’s work or play.
In Team Steps Guide to Problem Solving, her first business management book (2015, Turner Creek), Lisa reveals the shortcuts that work to solve problems on the production floor – and in life itself.
Two years later, in House Keys – The Essential Homeowner’s Guide (2017, Turner Creek), Lisa took her principles into the area of home inspection. In her career as a home inspector and general contractor, she discovered and wrote about all the things that builders were missing or doing wrong in home construction. She’s saving homeowners thousands of dollars now by revealing the tips and tricks to get a great home built for a small price, and time and money saving tricks on home maintenance and home organization.
Switching gears, Lisa decided to write her own story – an adventure memoir – in Dream Take Flight (2019, Turner Creek). In this inspiring story, Lisa “breaks the rules” for women in the 1970s, working high-rise construction and starting a bicycle shop. She goes on to build an airplane in her garage, flying the small airplane from Florida to Maine and back and reconciles with her family in the process.
The theme that runs through Lisa Turner’s life is one of high achievement born of the ability to choose the most important things to work on. At the end of her memoir is a goal setting section that high schools are now using to help students discover values and set goals that are achievable and meaningful.
In her latest book, Your Simplest Life, you can learn the secrets that Lisa uses to “get things done” and make sure they are the right things that bring happiness and joy to life every single day.Your Simplest Life By Lisa Turner PDF

This book is such a mess

March 24, 2021

This book was so hard to read. The author continued to contridict themselves over and over. One second they’d say how terrible multi-tasking is and the next minute they’d claim multi-tasking was a great tool. It seemed like the author also read a dozen self help books and tried to squash their usefulness into less than a paragraph. I was actually a little offended when the author tried to quote “atomic habits” and just butchered the theory of the book, and then gave “the life changing magic of tidying up” the same courtesy.

Look, I read a lot of self help books. Not every book is a masterpiece all the way through, and usually I just try to find at least one or two helpful things that I can implement in my life. And the best self help books give you a new perspective and help you change your way of thinking.
This book did neither of those things.Your Simplest Life By Lisa Turner PDF

Your Time—-Your Choice—–Here is how to do it.

Being retired I found the joy of time being more in my own control, but too often found myself saying”I don’t know how I ever had time for a job.” Your Simplest Life helps with that. We all have the same amount of time, 24 hours in a day. This book will be a game changer for many to do the things they want to do. We all have goals, none are the same for everyone, but no matter what these goals are, this precisely written, easy to follow book will make those goals attainable on you terms. Control your goals, don’t let them control you. Lisa will help you do this. Highly recommended, you will be rewarded many times over. Your time, your life, this will show you ways to make it all your best of times.

I wish I had access to this book as a teenager or young adult. But it’s never too late! This is the kind of book that, after you read it through once, you want to keep close on a shelf to refer to periodically. You can open it to any page and there is something to think about for how you are doing things. Ms. Turner’s style never feels like she’s telling you what to do, but the invitation is so intriguing and exciting, you just want to try it out! And as she says, don’t feel like you need to make a whole ton of changes at once. When you read this you will become more aware of where you might be unknowingly holding yourself up. Then you can pick one or two things to keep noticing, and over time you’ve changed a habit! The book is chock full of cool ways to reframe how you look at your life, feel better, work better, sleep better. Yet: it also doesn’t feel like too much or overwhelming. It’s presented in easy-to-take sections and doesn’t belabor a point. I learned lots of neat ideas (new to me) and will want to give each one more attention over time. The writing is pleasant, open, inspirational–but not fluffy. It’s to the point, practical and helpful. I appreciate all of that!

 Career Advice is Priceless

June 4, 2020

Your Simplest Life is a pleasantly tight and short read that condenses most of what you need to know about managing your own life in the present moment. The author talks about managing distraction and stress, how to work at home, how to get ahead in your career or in school, and the techniques to simplify, including a section on how to reach your goals based upon values.
Turner busts the traditional To-Do list tenets, as well as the SMART goal setting advice that you see in every other book out there on time management. The other books on organizing and finding what you love are all the same, I think they copied it from each other. Not this one.
The career advice is simplicity itself, and contains the things we never thought to do. Once you read them, you’ll say, “Well, of course, doesn’t that make sense.” This one short chapter can mean climbing a career ladder fast instead of languishing like everyone else in the average area.Your Simplest Life By Lisa Turner PDF
It’s clear that Turner studied and took important lessons from the guru on life management – Brian Tracy. That he himself has read and written a testimonial for the book speaks volumes to how much he thinks of here ideas and how she interpreted his lessons over the last twenty or so years. She is obviously a good student and has now assembled the tips and tricks that you and I need to get more done with lower stress levels.
The writing is to the point, like Turner’s other books. No extra fluff. And, like her other books, she demonstrates both wit and humility in her regard for the reader. I will read this one again, and get even more out of it. This is another book, like Turner’s last book, Dream Take Flight, that should be required reading in the classrooms.
The author points out that most of us are living in the past or in the future; the only way we can improve our lives is to consider how we can live right now. In this fun little book she gives us the tools to do just that. Enjoy.Your Simplest Life By Lisa Turner PDF
