The Authors

Hal Elrod is on a mission to Elevate the Consciousness of Humanity, One Morning and One Person at a Time.

As the author of one of the highest rated books in the world, The Miracle Morning (with 5,000+ five-star reviews, which has been translated into 37 languages and sold more than 2 million copies)… he is doing exactly that. The Miracle Morning By Hal Elrod PDFWhat’s incredible is that Hal literally died at age 20. His car was hit head-on by a drunk driver at 70 miles per hour, his heart stopped for 6 minutes, he broke 11 bones and woke up after 6 days in a coma to be told by his doctors that he would probably never walk again. Not only did Hal walk, he ran a 52-mile ultra-marathon and went on to became a hall of fame business achiever, international keynote speaker, author, and grateful husband & father-all before he turned 30.

Then, in November of 2016, Hal nearly died again – his kidneys, lungs, and heart were failing, and he was diagnosed with a rare, and very aggressive form of leukemia.

Hal is now in remission and furthering his mission as the creator of The Miracle Morning book series, host of the “Achieve Your Goals” podcast, and Executive Producer of The Miracle Morning MOVIE – a documentary that shows you how you can transform your life, one morning at a time.

Hal is grateful to be alive and living his mission alongside his wife and their two young children in Austin, TX.

A poor rehash of Tony Robbins and Jim Rohn

October 14, 2018

The first segment of this book is a retelling of his “great life to near death to great life to financial ruin to great life” story (which was published before his “great life to rare cancer to great life” chapter.) I’ll give him this: he is superbly adaptive to his circumstances, and God bless him for that. But the core notion that life SHOULD be lived, MUST be lived, at 100% in order to have an exceptional, happy, fulfilled life is utter bunk.

I like Tony Robbins’ approach–live life with passion. Absolutely. But to think that most humans are living in mediocrity completely invalidates (not to mention judges) how others find happiness. I know people who live to fish, that being out on the water every weekend is what they live for. Some of them even make their living fishing. Are they living their lives to their full potential? Who knows? Are they happy? They say they are, so who are we to say that’s a life of mediocrity The Miracle Morning By Hal Elrod PDF

I know a guy who lives like Hal Elrod describes–full on, all the time, super successful, incredibly rich. The guy called me the other day drunk, sobbing, completely unhinged because he is so desperately unhappy, being unable to process his father’s dying and the neglect he experienced as a child. Millionaire. Living full blast. Suicidal.

What seems to be missing from Mr Elrod’s treatise is a broader view of what a truly successful life includes. I am capable of a ton more than what I’m doing right now. But I’ve lived in the spotlight, I’ve made my mark in my area of military psychiatry through public speaking and published articles. But I am happier now than I ever was back then. I work quietly without fanfare, explore back roads, hike when the weather is good, visit family and friends as time allows, read new books on my occasional day off, and attend as much good theater as possible.

For me, getting up early is not so I can do all the things that will maximize my potential. It’s to leisurely make a cup of coffee, sit and enjoy it while I watch the sky lighten, make the bed (maybe), and a couple of times a week, head over to my community YMCA and enjoy the fellowship of an accepting, nonjudgemental community while I do whatever my body thinks would feel good. That is joy.

Could I do more? Yep. But I have no need to. I’m intellectually stimulated every day at my job, spiritually enriched within my religious community, in the peak of health at 60 years old, despite these unpleasant 20# I have gained these past 5 years, and think I have a pretty fabulous life, especially in comparison to 80% of the rest of the planet.

Berating myself for not doing as much as I am physically, intellectually, and emotionally capable (which Mr Elrod’s unwavering message would lead some to do, I think) is the opposite of living a grateful, fulfilling life. So I can’t endorse this particular message, although if it’s helping others find a path to enrichment, that’s great. But this path is definitely not the only, or even the best, path for many of us.

BTW, I have no trouble whatsoever stating my life’s purpose: to ease the suffering of whoever is near me at any given moment. Not remove their suffering. Not ease the suffering of every living soul on the planet. Just make each individual feel a little less pain, a little more hope, a little more confident, a little less scared, a little more love. Simple. And achievable. Don’t need a book to figure that out.

It’s just OK, not something I would reread.

Overall it is OK. If you are wondering here is the gist of the entire book. First you get the complete trials and tribulations of his life to this point. Once you get through that the miracle is…….get up about an hour or more earlier that you normally arise, do three or four things (i.e. pray, meditate, exercise, learn something new, read, etc.) and then get on with your day. I know some people will hate me for revealing the miracle but that is all there is to it. Just for the record it does work I have tried it. You will find that you will want to retire earlier at night. I am glad the book didn’t cost much

Do You Need That Little Push to Improve Your Life?

January 27, 2018

I’m on month five of my miracle morning journey. Thank you Hal Elrod! He takes “obvious” ideas and relates them in a way that inspires the reader to make a change. Want to lose weight? Learn more? Connect to your higher power? Improve your motivation? Yup. We all do, but how?
Get up earlier! What? Yes. Just get up earlier.
By setting a personal context for us and relating it universally, Elrod pushes the right buttons to get you to drag your butt out of bed 30 to 60 minutes earlier every day and begin your new life. I strongly suggest it.
Update: A year later I am still doing the miracle morning. It has changed in pattern and duration through the year, but its significance in my life has stayed positive and meaningful.

The semi-practical information in this book could have been written in a page or two. Mostly self-promotion and self-aggrandizement. An irrelevant sob story, links to his website, copywriting a catchy phrase, frequently repeating himself, and other forms of verbal masturbation. I have a sneaky suspicion that many of the 5-star reviews are fake.

Get ready to be inspired like never before!

August 28, 2017

This book changed my life in one sitting. Hal Elrod’s personal life story was so inspiring, all I could think about was how blessed I was without realizing it, and what an amazing person this author was for what he had to endure in his life. I had NO reason to complain any longer!
Not only did his story inspire me to become a better person all around, his Miracle Morning helped me create a solid plan for my every day to form habits that successful people have, which put me in the mindset for success every day.
There were so many things I loved about this book, but one of my favorite quotes was:
“Always remember that where you are is a result of who you WERE, but where you go depends entirely on who you choose to be, from this moment on.”
This quote alone inspired me to let go of my past and not let it define me any longer. I now CHOOSE who I want to be, moving forward in my life. I recommend this book to anyone who seeks guidance and discipline to get their life back on track and create a solid plan for their future. You can’t help but be motivated by this author’s story!
