Not What You Think…

It’s a great cookbook, and I love what it does provide the Galaxy’s Edge nut, but some of the ingredients are absolutely nuts. Butterfly Pea Tea? Really? Where am I finding that? has that somewhere but… really? And, if youre looking to make blue or green milk you’re not gonna want this at all. Just… be prepared for disappointment if you’re not a competent cook.

Neat recipes, but not park accurate

I was looking for a good copycat recipe for the Ronto Wraps in the park. The recipe in here doesn’t even look remotely the same. There are some neat recipes, but the majority of the park foods and drinks are not included or aren’t even close. There are some weird ingredients, but I’d expect that for a Star Wars themed cookbook. If you just want themed recipes this is a good book, but if you want what you find in the park you’ll need to look elsewhere.

Fun Galaxy’s Edge food in the spirit of Star Wars

I’ve enjoyed this cookbook more than any other cookbook I own. Still making my way thru the recipes. The Spicy Mandalorian Stew is my favorite. Poly starch Portion Bread is fun to experiment with, we tried it with diced apples. Fried Endorian Tip Yip is basic fried chicken. Ronto Wraps were well liked by my group, though not park accurate. Felucian Garden Spread came pretty close to what I remember from the park. Huttese Slime Pods were my least favorite recipe, I thought it wasteful of good avocado. I tried the blue butterfly pea tea for the Bantha Chai but it didn’t work for me, next time I’ll just use blue food coloring. I’m looking forward to starting the desserts section. I’ve got my eye on the Cavaellin Spice Creams and Mimbanese Mudslide. I’ve got my sporks and I’m having fun.

Immersive and innovative but sometimes requires a little help

I bought this book for my wife for Christmas, as we’re massive Star Wars fans, and she has been cooking recipes from it ever since. First off, the book is written in a very immersive style that really helps get you into the Star Wars spirit, so we always have fun with it. Second, the recipes are truly innovative, using techniques like dying noodles with blue tea, and blending avocado into gnocchi to make it green, so the meals themselves really do look, smell and taste like they’re from a different galaxy! My only complaint (and the reason for docking a star) is that, very often, we find that the seasoning on the food is lacking or nonexistent. For example, one dish had a sauce that was literally just cheese and cream, no salt or pepper, no herbs; absolutely bland. We’ve learned from that now and typically add our own seasoning to each dish, but it’s a shame that it’s not taken into account as part of the recipes.
