The Authors
Lauren Runow is the author of multiple Adult Contemporary Romance novels, some more dirty than others. When Lauren isn’t writing, you’ll find her listening to music, at her local CrossFit, reading, or at the baseball field with her boys. Her only vice is coffee, and she swears it makes her a better mom!
Lauren is a graduate from the Academy of Art in San Francisco and is the founder and co-owner of the community magazine she and her husband publish. She is a proud Rotarian, helps run a local non-profit kids science museum, and was awarded Woman of the Year from Congressman Garamendi. She lives in Northern California with her husband and two sons.

PERFECT SONG (Mason Creek) is a Small-Town, Age-Gap Romance. I’ve read all Lauren Runow’s Books, so looked forward to reading this one, too! This story didn’t disappoint me at all.
Justine Samson left her small hometown of Mason Creek fresh out of high school. For ten years she never came back. The Big Apple, New York City, had become her new home. She had a job she loved at Living Now Magazine and was living her dream life. She had friends and a live-in boyfriend. In one night of terror, she lost it all. Justine returned home to her parent’s house, where she grew up, located in Mason Creek. A place that everyone knew your name & business. She wasn’t sure she could ever return to New York, and had dark secrets she would rather keep hidden.
Her first night out with her former high school friends was at Pony Up. The one and only bar in town. She recognized everyone, but a good looking guy that knew her friends. His name was Tucker Simms. He plays guitar & sings in a local band, plus is very well known in that area. He also has a day job as a mechanic that fixes cars. He is surprised to find a new pretty face when he enters the bar, and thought he knew everyone in this town. There are reasons for everything, and their meeting was about to change both their lives forever.
It isn’t Tucker’s fault that Justine had trust issues when it comes to men. Nor was it Justine’s fault he had trust issues with women. They have an instant attraction, that even his fifteen years older age, does nothing to damping their attraction to each other. Matter-of-fact, Tucker does a good job of proving that older man can do everything better than boys. He proves it quite well every chance he gets. Justine never though she would be living back in Mason Creek or loving every minute. The best part was having Tucker by her side. Just when things were going so smoothly, secrets come out to cause issues. Then a unforeseen problem causes heartache and sorrow. Can all this be fixed with a Perfect Song? I read this book in one day to find out!

Justine left right out of high-school for the bright lights of the “city that never sleeps.” She is happy with her life and her career as a journalist for a top magazine in New York, but she is forced to return home to Mason Creek. She goes to Pony Up to meet her friends and meets Tucker Simms, who is the lead singer in a country cover band, and said to be the “local legend.”
Perfect Song is the second book from the new Mason Creek Series. This is also a first read author for me, and I am not going to lie, I loved every page! Tucker and Justine are the couple country love songs are written about. This book has it all; laughter, drama, angst, tears, and some of the best country songs.
Lauren Runow defintly delivered with Justine and Tucker. These two show that your best bet on love can be right in your backyard and you don’t even know it. It can be read as a standalone.
Mason Creek is becoming a beautiful place to live, and I can’t wait for the next book.

This is my first book by this author and I absolutely loved it. I am very hard to please when it comes to romances (unfortunately), but this book had everything I love in a romance and had me crying at end. (This review may contain spoilers).
I was sucked in right away. I was immediately invested in Tucker and Justine. I loved the way things progressed between them. I loved that she followed her feelings towards Tucker and didn’t listen to the town gossip or her parents lol.
When the big conflict occurs it was so well done and so believable. It was also gut wrenching and my heart was just breaking for Justine. But the way it ended was superb and had me bawling my eyes out!! And the epilogue was just what I needed to end this story!

I am so glad I continued with the series! Book 2 blew my mind! I absolutely devoted it. I am a huge fan on 90’s country and it was fun to sing some of the lyrics in my head when they were mentioned. I really fell in love with this story and this couple. Once again, everything works out, happy ending and all. Just like the books I love to read. Love heals all- it was great to check in on some of the characters from the first book too- on to book 3!

I loved reading Tucker and Justine’story ! It is beautifully written, so real and emotional. It is wonderful to see how they can’t seem to stay way since they first meet and Tucker being older has a maturity and protectiveness about himself that is truly irresistible. When time comes Justine is also there to be his rock and together they rely on each other and overcome past and present challenges. It is truly a wonderful book with rich, sensitive characters. A must read!
