Very good book, but frustrating

I read this book carefully, and enjoyed it. I plan to use it to try to help with my back pain, as soon as my recent spasm finishes being sore.
This book incorporates a lot of Dr. Hans Kraus’ earlier work, as laid out in Backache, Stress, and Tension. But Dr. Marcus has added a couple of tweaks to the exercises. Sounds good, and I plan to use his version.
However, there are three major frustrations here. The first is that the book also describes Dr. Marcus’ own method of identifying the sore muscles that actually cause the pain (not easy), then injecting them with a needle – and it’s the needle itself that actually helps, followed by physical therapy. He doesn’t explain why this works, nor relate it to Dr. Kraus’ work, nor to acupuncture, which seems an obvious thing to compare to.
The second is that there’s a photo insert referred to, which is apparently in earlier editions of the book? I was sort of OK without it, but there’s this thing called the Internet, and it would be very easy for the publisher to put the insert here on , on their own site, and elsewhere, as a free PDF. Instead, readers of this edition just get gypped.
And third, this is one of several different approaches to back and other pain, all in books here on . It’s frustrating that there’s no “theory of the case” as to which to use, and why. I don’t know if I have to go read all those other books, while using or not using the Kraus book and this one, to solve my problem, and recommend to friends.
Great Book for Back Pain

I have been having back and leg spasms for some time. I had an MRI and was told I had minor disk issues and just had to live with it. ,I did physical therapy and took ever and ever stronger meds. I had some relief but I still couldn’t do much without being in pain. Even just walking.
I finally ordered this book on a whim. I figured what could I lose.
I skimmed thru the book until I got to the series of exercises. I started them that day and just like the author claimed, I had instant relief.
I am a skeptic about claims of miracle cures and I still can’t believe that something this simple works.
I no longer take any medication and on days that I overdo gardening or heaving lifting I just do the exercises and the pain goes away.
I have recommended this book to everyone that tells me they have back pain.

I bought this book when I could barely walk from pirifomis syndrome pain. I follow the very clearly explained and detailed exercises daily and it’s helped with everything from hip pain to tension headaches. I feel so much better and have recommended this book to countless people. It’s a game changer for anyone who suffers from back pain.

Made a difference in my life

These exercises seem simple – too simple at first. I wanted to charge ahead and get to the complicated one at first, but I followed the instructions and took it easy. By golly, after a week my back felt a little better. I took a long road trip for 5 weeks, hefted my luggage and routinely carried 40 pounds of camera great daily. I almost never felt bad.
This is a book, not a magic potion. I’ve had back trouble since I was a teenager due to motorcycle and car wrecks, a bad parachute fall (it was the landing really that got me) and probably bad genes. So this book showed me ways to improve my condition, but it cannot cure a bad back. I do them almost every morning (I am not perfect) and almost never have pain. But sometimes my pain will come back when I move wrong. These exercises help with the acute pain, if I do them carefully.
I finally bought a Herman Miller ergonomic chair for my long hours at the computer (I am an author) and it also helped tremendously. I think these exercises control 40% of my pain, the chair another 40%. The book cost a lot less. I thought I was “cured” and quit doing the exercises for a week. My old pain came back. Stick with the plan and you will be rewarded.
I believe someone commented that he found the same exercises for free elsewhere. I doubt they were exactly the same. Maybe so, but I think that the way this book is laid out, the way it is written and the illustrations make it a bargain. The author deserves every penny.
Do yourself a favor; read Dr. Marcus’ book.

If your surgeon has recommended surgery (which of course is what they do) because of back pain, do yourself a favor and, read Dr. Marcus’ book. Better yet, see him in person. If he can help you he will, and you’ll save the time, money, and inconveniences that come with surgery. If he can not, he’ll gladly recommend the correct Dr. who might be able to give you the relief needed, whether through surgery or other modes. Due to a near fatal MVA I became a patient of Dr. Marcus and his treatments have allowed me to continue working as a professional dance teacher and choreographer. When necessary I’ve had surgery (30 as of now) but without Dr. Marcus’ techniques and exercises, which are clearly presented in his book, I wouldn’t be functioning at the level needed to continue in my field.

This book will benefit and inform anyone who suffers from pain. It is an easy read and explains pain in a relatable way. This book will walk you through the pain process and how it effects your body. It offers great information as well as exercises that truly work. This is a must read for anyone with pain or if you know someone in pain.
Dr.Marcus is a pioneer in this field and has helped countless people end pain or manage it more effectively. I have been a patient for ten years with first hand knowlege of how well his methods work. I dealt with a plethora of doctors before I came to Dr Marcus and not one ever addressed muscle damage as a serious cause to the pain. Dr Marcus is trustworthy and honest with his treatment. You feel like finally someone can help me.
I have met so many people at his office that share their success stories with me and it is truly amazing. His patients have usually tried many other approaches without success but after finally finding him they are now living with no pain or significantly less pain than before. Dr Marcus’s practice is dedicated to truly helping people lead happier healthier lives.
