The Authors

Magnolia Table Volume 2 PDF

Joanna Gaines and her husband, Chip Gaines, are co-founders and co-owners of Magnolia Homes, Magnolia Market and Magnolia Realty in Waco, Texas. Together, they also host HGTV’s Fixer Upper, where Joanna serves as the lead designer and Chip handles construction. Joanna appreciates the old ways of living, simple and hard-working with home at the center of it all.

Joanna, also known by friends and fans as “Jo” or “JoJo”, was born in Kansas and raised in the Lone Star State. She graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Communications and was inspired to join the world of design while interning in New York City. Joanna decided to open a home decor shop, Magnolia Market, in 2003; bringing her NYC-inspired ideas and eye for design back to Waco, Texas. She soon discovered this passion complemented Chip’s construction experience, and together they began remodeling and flipping homes.

Recently Chip and Joanna partnered to write their autobiography: The Magnolia Story. The Magnolia Story details their life together; from how they met and their first home renovation projects, to how they came to have their own TV show and much more.

In between filming for Fixer Upper, their home renovation projects, and managing the Magnolia businesses, Joanna enjoys life on their farm, writing for her blog and spending time cooking family recipes in her kitchen. Gardening soothes her soul and being with her four kids dominates all other favorites.

Daniela K “Let me start off by saying I love Chip and Jo, have seen every episode of Fixer Upper, have traveled to Waco and soaked up every aspect of what they have done there so I really wanted to absolutely love this but it just missed the mark for me. I just received it today and immediately spent an hour flipping through it checking out every recipe. I think I’m a decent cook and I felt like a lot of the recipes were either too basic or just things I’ve seen before countless times. There are maybe 5-10 recipes that are something new to me. The photography is beautiful, there is a picture for almost every recipe, and I love the little anecdotes throughout, I just think this is more for a beginner cook, or someone that likes to just collect everything Chip and Jo do. I did enjoy the dessert section, there were definitely some beautiful treats that I am looking forward to trying!”
MarigoldLilyRosemary “Made the Silo’s cookies first. I cut the recipe in half And they taste amazing! I was going to stop there but the girls wanted pasta. I made Jo’s Marinara which was very tasty and easy. I made angel hair pasta with shrimp scampi. It. Was. Amazing!!! We made Garlic Knot rolls and Braided Loaf and paired with garlic, parsley, and sun dried tomato butter. For Mother’s Day we cooked the roasted chicken but put it in the smoker. We baked and handed out the pound cake. The lentil soup with focaccia was amazing. We used lamb instead of ham and shared half. Kids 8 & 3 loved the Ranchers breakfast. Our sitter devoured the blueberry sweet rolls and we never see her eat . Brownies are decadent and worth sharing. Salad Nicoise was a healthy and flavorful dish for two nights. This book to replace all other cookbooks.”
“I have looked through it 3 times now and still really disappointed. Looks like a bunch of filler recipes to sell another cookbook. I have loved the first one and had high expectations for this one. None of the soups in this book look good at all. Seem like many of these Jo has not or would not serve her family. I have made the bread 3 times now and it was only after I had the change the ingredients does it turn out. Many of the recipes in this cookbook are just INCORRECT! Also made the oatmeal pies and they are FLAT, and this is after chilling the cookie sheets. Many of these recipes are not accurate. I had no issues with the recipes in the first cookbook.”
Alycia Hildebrand “Usually a 2nd cookbook by an author isn’t nearly as good as the 1st one…but this one is just as good! I cooked my way through it and didn’t find 1 bad recipe! Sure these were some that used ingredients my family didn’t care for, but the recipe itself still tasted good! I love how the recipes are for bigger groups. We’re a family of 5, so standard cookbooks that have recipes with 4 servings leave us with excessive leftovers. The recipes in this book are geared towards larger sizes (6+ people), so I never need to adjust amounts!”
