Another Great Read from Greg Laurie, Paperback Writer!

Ok, I know it’s a hardback book, but, as a lifelong Beatles fan, I couldn’t resist the pun. Like Greg, I’m a child of the ‘60’s also, and the Beatles, along with Dylan and other groups of the 60’s and 70’s, were the soundtrack of my growing up years…however, Greg does a good job of covering music groups and artists up to the present day also, so this book should relate to all age groups. You can read the book front to back, or go to certain chapters that deal with your favorite musicians first, then read the rest. I devoured this book in a few short hours. I appreciated Greg’s spirit towards the people he’s written about—this is by no means a judgmental take on these people, but gives the facts about their spiritual journeys and, in some cases, their coming to the truth of the gospel found in Jesus Christ. I especially appreciated the times that Greg interjected his personal comments about getting to know some of the people he’s written about, which gave extra encouragement to me as a fan, regarding their spiritual journey and conversion to Christ. As Greg says in the book, we’re all a work in progress, and this is a book of hope that the last chapter is never written in one’s life until God closes the book on that person’s life. And yes, as Greg also reminds us, from an observation made by John Newton (who wrote Amazing Grace), when we get to Heaven, we can expect to find some surprises there—1st, there will be some people there that we hadn’t expected to see there…2nd, there won’t be some people there that we had expected to see there…and the 3rd surprise, is the fact that we’re there! That’s why it’s called Amazing Grace… and God’s Grace is available to anyone…the chapters on Lennon, Dylan and Alice Cooper I especially appreciated, but every chapter is worth your time. I’ve enjoyed all of Greg’s previous books, and this is no exception. Thanks, Greg, for your books and your ministry these many years—you’ve been a help many times to this fellow pastor of 40 years.

Fantastic! In his latest book, Lennon, Dylan, Alice, and Jesus, Greg Laurie does an amazing job of capturing the history and evolution of rock and roll while tying-in the larger questions of faith that we all ponder. For those of us who grew up in the 60’s and 70’s, it is a nostalgic walk down memory lane but adding fascinating research into the background of major rock stars and the history of the industry itself. For those who did not grow up in the era, it is a must read! Offering a rare and accurate perspective on a musical and spiritual movement of the time. This book entertains while bringing home the larger questions of faith and purpose in our lives. Revealing how even these huge rock stars struggled with these age old questions, helps put it all into perspective. Reading this book will inspire, entertain and educate but, most importantly, it helps us break through the noise of the world and tap into our higher purpose and calling.

Very Moving Emotional and Tragic

I’m a life long Beatle fan…but I love Jesus more…always have, always will…the chapter on John Lennon was very emotional and so tragic how his life went behind the scene. The search for meaning and purpose can be an intense challenge but vital to true life, and it’s sad how their searches were challenged and ended too early, but how glorious is it when they finally do have Jesus. I pray that somehow they made it. But we dont know thus side of heaven. Greg Laurie wrote a very informative and insightful book. It was a blessing to read. And a lesson for our own lives and our friends.

This is an excellent book. I have a library of books written by Greg, along with many more authored by Spiritual leaders. Greg has always been able to show the path to Jesus that He (God) has laid out for us. In this book, Greg as combined his knowledge of the Music Industry along with his thoroughly engrained knowledge of God, Jesus, their message that “we are so loved by them both.” I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s. Greg’s book as taught me much about my “Stars” and I discovered in them, a new bit of “Humanity” in them all. They all needed what we all need, and some of them have discovered that God call us all, if we but listen. The Music stars Greg speaks of all could form their own Church–focused on God, called “The Lost & Found Church”. Thanks very much Greg! Steve Strahan

I thought my husband knew everything about the rockstars of our youth, but even he is amazed at the previously unknown facts in this book.

Greg Laurie’s spiritual biography on Rock and Roll is a fascinating and illuminating examination on the lives of several Rock artists and their spiritual journeys. It’s well researched and informative in covering the lives of artists like Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Alice Cooper, Justin Bieber and more. Very informative and inspiring, well worth reading.

Rock Star Inspiration

Greg Laurie has written a collection of inspirational stories for a wide variety of “rock stars”. But the common theme throughout the book is that Jesus is the only true “rock star”. Greg Laurie’s book comes across as a quasi-diary or notebook of famed stars and their quest to find God. The stories are a tour through famous lives’ various quests for peace but the overarching theme is a reassurance that there is no peace without God and the gift and acceptance of Jesus as Lord.
