A new epic has come!

Another new epic progression fantasy is here! this mixes epic fantasy with cultivation plus some dose of light litrpg goodness with a dash of excellent characters to make a awesome new series.

It’s cut up into parts so there is a beginning, middle, end for each arc and that makes the structure of the story really good.

I can’t recommend it enough for those of you who are addicted to things like cradle and iron prince? Well here is a new addiction for us! ;D

This book like so many others by the author has rich world building and that alone was enough to draw me in.

But I loved the main character. I felt like I was there and experiencing what he did. There isn’t much more that an author could do to make me love their book.

At first glance it looks like just another cultivation story, but the character is more approachable than many I’ve seen. He’s a wounded man who isn’t going to let himself be stopped just because the task is more difficult and that gives him a depth that some stories lack.

The side characters are fun and balance the personalities so no particular tone becomes overwhelming. Moments of pain are balanced by humor and the story genuinely reminds me of those I know who have served in the military.

Absolutely loved it and I am eagerly waiting for the next book.

Cultivation and LitRPG are hot genres right now, and there is a flood of first-time authors giving it a shot. They usually have great ideas but no experience with the craft of writing and it shows. Most of them are, frankly, terrible. This book is a breath of fresh air. Well-written and edited, it’s clearly the product of an experienced author.

The first third of the book establishes the main character as a hard-bitten infantry veteran. After experiencing a dramatic series of events, he finds himself in exile with a crippling injury.

But it’s at that point the *real* story starts to unfold with both cultivation and LitRPG elements that are both feel organic to the story. He founds a new sect, serving a (very) minor deity who wants him to succeed but whose trickster nature also delights when he suffers.

The characters are engaging, the story is interesting, the combat exciting, and the book sets up the rest of the series beautifully while being satisfying on its own.

I will absolutely buy the sequel when it comes out so I can enjoy the continuing adventures of Luca, his tiny sect and his trickster goddess!
