Oh my word. This book was so adorable.
I couldn’t stop smiling. The entire time.. The chemistry between Logan and Tessa was unmatched. 😭🖤🖤
The grocery store scene had me dying of embarrassment and laughing the entire time. So hilarious and relatable. I have nothing negative to say about this one (which if you know me- know that THAT says a lot- because I love to be picky and critical with my 5 stars). Big fan. And the epilogue!? My hearttttttttt. Ok ok. Just read it if you want happiness and good vibes in your life.

I am happy to report that Steel has quickly become one of my favorite sweet romantic comedy authors. Double or Nothing is a fun, flirty romance full of hilarious moments, witty banter, sizzling chemistry, and swoony kisses. It also made this Midwestern girl happy with Steel’s immersive descriptions of country living, farms, apple orchards, and of course, MUD. Seriously, this book was meant for reading on a breezy summer day under your favorite tree while smelling fresh cut grass (and maybe a touch of manure because farm life, y’all).
Steel does such a great job writing relatable, realistic characters that you root for and want to be friends with. I was so excited for Tessa and Logan’s story after reading That Fine Line, and this book definitely delivered. I’ll admit, I went into it a little suspicious of Logan because of his alleged player status, but I love how Steel peeled back his layers and revealed what was really going on with him. His insecurities made sense, and I loved how he stepped thing up in the end, going from a good-time guy to THE guy. *Sigh* my heart was very happy when I reached the last page.
And Tessa was a fantastic spunky, yet vulnerable, heroine. I felt all her pain over her past heartbreak, and understood her reasons for keeping Logan at arm’s length. And yes, I also felt her embarrassment over their history (lol, that Prologue). Her past crush on Logan (that he knows all about) had me invested in this story from the start. Luckily, she was quick enough to hold her own against all his teasing, which made for an entertaining ride.
And last but not least, Jake was hilarious! I loved the creative dates he planned for Tessa and Logan, and how he shipped them from the start and was prepared to go down with that ship. You gotta love a man who is a hopeless romantic at heart! I’m really hoping Steel has a book planned for him because I would love to read his story.
If you’re in the mood for a sweet, immersive, small-town romance that will make you laugh out loud, look no further! Cindy Steel delivers all that and more in Double or Nothing. You’ll fall in love with not only her characters, but also her world. I’ll definitely be reading everything she writes in the future. (And if anyone tries to stop me, I’ll be fighting them like the moose on Tessa and Logan’s camping trip!)
