A common-sense guide to living rich. instead of dying rich Die With Zero Getting All You Can from Your Money and Your Life PDF
Imagine if by the time you died, you did everything you were told to. You worked hard, saved your money, and looked forward to financial freedom when you retired.

The only thing you wasted along the way was your life.

Die with Zero presents a startling new and provocative philosophy as well as practical guide on how to get the most out of your money—and out of your life. It’s intended for those who place lifelong memorable experiences far ahead of simply making and accumulating money for one’s so-called “golden years.”

In short, Bill Perkins wants to rescue you from over-saving and under-living. Regardless of your age, Die with Zero will teach you Perkins’s plan for optimizing your life, stage by stage, so you’re fully engaged and enjoying what you’ve worked and saved for.

You’ll discover how to maximize your lifetime memorable moments with “time-bucketing,” how to convert your earnings into priceless memories by following your “net worth curve,” and how to navigate decisions about whether to invest in, or delay, a meaningful adventure with your “fulfillment curve” and “personal interest rate.”

Using his own life experiences as well as the inspiring stories and cautionary tales of others—and drawing on eye-opening insights about time, money, and happiness from psychological science and behavioral finance—Perkins makes a timely, convincing, and contrarian case for living large.

 Too long, reiterative

The book is based on a good idea: that most people save too much for old age and due to declining health are unable to enjoy the money they made or die with big unused savings. But other than continuously reiterating the same thing over 197 pages the book doesn’t bring any value beyond the first few pages.
The only thing he suggests is being conscious of what you want and try not to defer doing these things.A quick summary would be: make a bucket list of the things you want in life and when is the best time to do them, then just try to do them. Don’t delay these activities for fear of running out of money.

 Ideas Worth Considering, but . . .

This is an engaging read, with interesting but article-length content stretched into a book. It provides an occasion to reflect on your values, your life, and whether to make a course correction. Since others have nicely summarized the author’s ideas, I’ll just mention a point that the author seems to have overlooked. Money that you will die without ever spending is still of value to you. There’s pleasure in having money as well as in spending it: the feelings of security, well-being, confidence, and freedom.Die With Zero Getting All You Can from Your Money and Your Life PDF

 Not for me

December 10, 2020

Reminds me of the Anthropic Principle. Why is this universe so fine tuned to the evolution of life? Perhaps because if it didn’t, we would not be here to ask that question. If Bill Perkins wasn’t successful there would be no book, but how many people do what he suggests and fail? I see people struggling every day to pay the rent or buy hot food for Thanksgiving. This is a model for a select few who have the means and ability. This is for the elites of society who look down on the dregs with disdain. No Way for me.

 Tedious

August 15, 2021

I’m a couple of chapters in and can’t figure out how so many readers could have given Die With Zero five stars.

This book is tedious to read. Perkins will use too many sentences to describe a very straightforward point, then he’ll give a metaphor to illustrate the point, then he’ll make a pop culture reference to underscore the point, then he’ll give an example from his own life where the point was relevant.

He also gives absurdly useless examples to correlate his point to “real life” situations. For example (paraphrasing), we don’t wake up every day not knowing what a door is, or a doorknob, and having to relearn each day how to open a door. We don’t walk into our own kitchen each morning wondering who that stranger is making coffee. All of this to make the point that humans have memory recall, which IMO is not something that even needs to be stated.I’ll update my review when (if?) I finish the book.

 Incredibly Unique Perspective on Life

August 13, 2020

I have to start off by saying that I know Bill Perkins personally, and that is going to make my review biased. With that being said, in my 1 year of knowing Bill, Ive had the most amazing experiences of my life. Everything from travelling around the world to playing chess with Sir Richard Branson on his private island. Bill not only lives his life to the fullest, but makes sure everyone around him does too. I mention that because this is a book that gives you the tools to live your best life, and it’s actually written by someone who is actually living their best life. If I want relationship advice I go to the person with a strong and stable relationship, not the person on their 4th marriage. If you want advice on maximizing your life experiences and money then there’s no better person to give that advice than Bill. Die With Zero is terrific. I read it in a couple of days and got a ton out of it, and I know you will too.Die With Zero Getting All You Can from Your Money and Your Life PDF
