Not much different than his Instagram feed

I admire Brian Paquette’s calibrated mix of patterns, textures, and welcoming earth tones, so I was excited for his first book.

While it was interesting to flip once, it is not one I would return to very often as it has a strong degree of sameness to it, particularly if you’ve seen his Instagram over the years. I was actually surprised to see some of the same lamps and accessories used in more than one of the homes included.

And some of his introductions to the homes contained a tad too much self-indulgent, ego-boosting commentary for my tastes. Let your work speak for itself.

Lovely photographs and richly detailed spaces

The photographs are stunning. It’s so much better than Instagram to see these images larger and in print. So many of the spaces are in the northwest where light variations and views are as integral to the feeling of spaces there as the natural blues and greens and greys of the terrain. I appreciated getting a sense of the larger projects and how Brian kept a place feeling cohesive even when it’s a bright white kitchen and a moody palette elsewhere. My favorites are the bedrooms. But all of the spaces have such layers I can see turning to this book over and over for inspiration. I disagree with the review that said there was too much sameness. To me the very reason to buy a book like this is to study what resonates. If you just want eye candy, keep scrolling Instagram. If you want to understand, at an emotional level, why you like Brian’s feed, get the book. I’m glad I did.

As soon as I received this book, I couldn’t put it down. Normally I go right to the beautiful pictures which are plentiful but what is more amazing is all the stories behind them. Brian Paquette clearly pours his soul into each home designs, ensuring that he gets to know his clients so designs are truly a reflection of them vs. his personal taste and design style. Your library is not complete without this book!

Sometimes neutrals can be boring, but not in these pages. Each room has a litte something that keeps it interesting and beautiful. Lots of rooms I’ve never seen anywhere, engaging text, and the font isn’t too small (a personal pet peeve). Very happy with this purchase!

Received the book in less than favorable condition. Every single corner is either dented or torn. For a book that’s suppose to go on my coffee table I guess I’ll just have to store it on a shelf somewhere. The images and interiors are spectacular I wish the would pack there product better. Such a shame.

I was scrolling through the many books on interior design overwhelmed with choice.
” At Home ” caught my attention because I liked the photograph on the front cover.
Decided I will judge a book by its cover and purchased it.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the authors career and swooning over the beautiful rooms he created.
Credit to the photographer the photos are top notch…
If you like soothing earthy tones in decor this book is a must.
