The Writers

Amanda Jenkins is an author, speaker, and mother of four. She has written five books, including Confessions of a Raging Perfectionist, a memoir that has inspired women’s Bible studies and conferences all over the country. She specializes in writing and teaching raw authenticity in our faith, which was the intent behind The Chosen devotionals. She lives just outside of Chicago with her children and husband, Dallas.

Kristen Hendricks is an author, artist, and the creator of Small Girl Design. Before illustrating (literally) how a Big God can work through a Small Girl, Kristen witnessed this truth time and again during her tenure as executive director of an anti-trafficking organization in East Africa. Kristen lives in the Chicago area with her two daughters and husband, Joe, where she strives to champion for women and point them to Christ.

Dallas Jenkins has been a filmmaker for over twenty years. He is currently producing The Chosen, the first multi-season show about the life of Christ. He’s produced or directed over a dozen films, including What If … and The Resurrection of Gavin Stone. The viral success of his short films about the Gospels from a different perspective led to his current series, The Chosen, and this devotional. He is also a sought-after speaker, blogger, and media guest on pop culture and faith topics.

Trying too hard to be cool

Love the first one, very much DISLIKE the second (blue) one. Aren’t they basically the same? NO. The amount of effort to try and sound cool/relevant/modern is cringe worthy to say the least not to mention it dates the devotional in 5 years people will have to Google what Twitter is I don’t want to read about Twitter in a devotion. And I don’t want to have to Google an expression (Uffdah) that only people in Minnesota use! I’m only like 8 days into the second devotional and I’m not going to continue. I’ll just pick the first one (brown)back up and start from the beginning.

I really LOVE this devotional! I am reading it slowly so that i dont finish it too quickly, but i know i will be re-reading it often and into the future. I LOVE The Chosen series and bought this to help fund it and “pay it forward” – SO GLAD I DID> This makes a great gift!! <3 and helps spread the message of the Gospel in a very tangible, real, and newly fresh way. Cover damage.

Of course I am happy to finally receive my order after 4 months, however, sadly the cover is damaged at the top right corner… I wanted to give it as a present to my daughter but, although she will read it, I cannot give her it as a gift!
(2 stars withheld because of damage and lateness of arrival.)

This book deals with Season 2 of The Chosen which is a Faith-based Bible Series that one can find on their app. It is a review of the entire season and dives right in with good quality Scripture and questions. A must-have for fans of the show. I purchased the same type of book for Season 1 and love both books.
