A great book to study for the Boards

The questions in this book might not necessarily be the same questions on the NAPLEX, but they get your mind in exam mode. My recommendation would be to use this book+Pharmacology (by Lippencott) and study for 2 months prior to your exam. Go through this book by section, answer the questions, and review ALL the wrong and right answers (they are provided). The questions are nicely organized and the CD was extremely helpful. If I had to the the “Boards” again, I would use this book to study. It provides a ton of useful information and the questions are very good. I highly recommend this book.

Waste of money if your studying for NAPLEX

I purchased this along with other resources to help study for NAPLEX. This by far was the worst resource I purchased. I almost feel like it was written for studying pharmacy in a totally different country. Some of the test questions are ok but some just make no sense at all and have no application to the field at all.I recommend the Kaplan NAPLEX review instead, that was by far the BEST resource.

I’ve used this book while studying for my Boards in 2007. Now, being a licensed pharmacist, I recommend it to all my students. In particular, reviewing all the cases at the end of the book DO HELP tremendously in preparing yourself for the actual NAPLEX format questions.

This book immediately gets into the nuts & bolts of the pharmacotherapeutics with cool questions plus amazing rationales. My advice? Study your school lecture notes & review this book at the same time and you’ll be amazed at what you’ve achieved in a month’s time.

Get A Real Review Book Instead

This book is great for quizzing you so you know what subjects to brush up on. THe CD can also get you used to the CAT format. But having taken the NAPLEX after using this book and several others, you will never see these questions on the NAPLEX. The chances of seeing the same question is almost zilch. Its better to know your key subjects well (HTN, DM, HIV, etc) then learn facts here and there about everything. That’s what this book does for you. Its a compilation of specific questions. I recommend a review book such as APHA’s Comprehensive Pharmacy Review, or Kaplans Naplex review instead.
