I have questions

For a romantic comedy (which it is) I had some worries early on. It seems like the first quarter of the book has a magnetic, charming, beautiful woman, but no mate for her. Indeed, it seems like there’s not even an eligible man anywhere near her orbit. And then, in quick succession, three show up. One is put into the friend zone pretty fast (maybe too soon), but the other two stick it out for quite a while. Eventually The One becomes obvious to the reader, if not to the heroine. Along the way there are many side plots and colorful characters. One little motif is ‘selfies with Emmy’ (about which I shall say no more). The half-siblings direct a lot of snark towards our heroine. There’s a rundown theater in need of saving, and they just need to do one show to raise money for repairs. And I think it wouldn’t be a Portia MacIntosh story if the tidal island didn’t play a part.

Minor details:
I do know what the title refers to, and we do get a definitive answer to that question. I would have called the book something else anyway. Maybe something referring to the fantasy show.
I still don’t know how an R turns into an L for one of the nicknames.

But only if you want to read a well written book, with very interesting characters who all have unique personalities!
Don’t read it if you don’t like a good plot that keeps you turning pages! Have to go now and find another of her books to read!

I couldn’t put this book down. I left the housecleaning and shopping go by the wayside.

A very different rom com: this had a mystery, a loving and not-so-loving family dynamics, quirky relatives and friends.

Hard to get into

I usually can’t put Portia MacIntosh books down. They are a fast read that I feel really invested in. I didn’t feel even remotely invested in this one until I was halfway through it. I did end up liking it, but I wish it wouldn’t have taken so long to get to that point.

Emily is a great charactet.

Emily was the best character in the book. Her friends were strange. The old boyfriend fell into the creepy category. Her family loves her, mostly. But Emily seems real. She has employment concerns, she tries her best to be true to herself. And occasionally has self doubts..
