A prologue would have been nice, to get back in the flow. Or I could just reread the previous novels…nah.

Still interested; a bit of a slog

I’m still going to read book four when it comes out next month, I’m still interested in the story, so why did I give it three stars?

I don’t generally skip parts of books that I’m reading. However, there was a section of this book that I skipped because I felt that it was useless filler. It was essentially a side quest that had no impact on the story. It could have easily been one of the times that the author shortened what happened rather than telling all the details.

Also, the other doesn’t seem to have grown as far as their writing style. There are still repeat words and phrases, as well as some of the odd phrases that the author uses. The first repeat phrase that comes my mind is “like a meteor” and the first word is “unhesitently.” You could make a drinking game out of some of the repeats from the series thus far.

Finally, there were a few parts of the story that just dragged. Felt like nothing was happening and we were simply retreting old content.

All of that being said, the rest of the book was very interesting, as expected and delivered throughout the previous entries of this series. I enjoy the humor, I usually enjoy the pacing, and I really like how the whole world is fleshing out. Introduced some new big bads and we’re starting getting idea of how they’re going to be dealt with.

As I said at the start I will be reading next book in the series but I definitely had a little bit of trouble making it through this one. Hopefully the next one is more like book two which has been my favorite thus far.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! We get to see Zac and our main cast of characters get stronger, and see some growth in some of the supporting cast. This book also introduced arrays and formations which are very common in the xianxia/wuxia stories. Zac and his allies finally take the battle to the incursions while trying to plan for the upcoming potential major threat. I really hope that we dont see this series follow in the footsteps of the 10 Realms series with an overabundance of characters and plot arcs, which is a worry of mine. But so far this one continues in similar vein to the first two books. New powers, new challenges, and lots of butt kicking abound!

As the title says this is a review for Kindle Unlimited and as such is a reflection of my enjoyment of the book and in no way reflects cost to value analysis. I hate trying to define my enjoyment and describe facets of it that would appeal to someone else. It is simply not my style. But for the sake of those fishing for clues:

Character development: good
Game elements: moderate
Harem elements: none
Summary: love this series. Always keeps the excitement going.

I will happily discuss the book with you on Goodreads if you are so inclined. As always, I am open to debates and arguments, but also vain enough to seek acknowledgement, so feel free to roast me or applaud my efforts.
