I’m so upset UPDATE

I ordered the book obviously since I’m able to write a review & I can not access it in my kindle app it’s like literally gone I’m so upset. I never order books I was super excited to read this & I spent money I probably should not have just so I could.

UPDATE: I’m an idiot lol used the wrong card for my payment & I was able to resolve & now have the book.

Just the introduction had me hooked!!! It’s hilarious and so relatable it’s a book you can’t put down. I definitely need to get her first book.

If you’re a mom, you need to read this book. Laura talks about so many taboo things that really shouldn’t be so secretive or shameful in our society. Basically anything involving the vagina isn’t spoken about in western culture, and books like Idiots that talk about the reality of postpartum, struggles with sex, childbirth, breastfeeding, start to help break that stigma.
I’m a mom, I’m also in recovery, and I love the little tidbits of recovery wisdom sprinkled in the book. And I think even if you’re not in recovery, they’re helpful for learning how to be the best you that you can be. The tenets of Alcoholics Anonymous can be applied to just general life- acceptance, courage, wisdom. As they say- “grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference”. Laura talks about the gritty parts of sobriety, not just early recovery like we mostly see portrayed in media. People struggle with 1 week, 1 month, 1 year, 1 decade in recovery, so I like to see the reality of that portrayed in media. I think the perspective of a person in recovery loving a partner through their relapse and recovery is important, too. It’s a must read, I pre-ordered almost a year ago and listened to the first 3 chapters non-stop last night and am excited to have the hard copy! The first book, Idiot, is a must read for anyone in recovery or in need of a laugh, too. We love you Laura!

Good, but not great.

Laura is super funny and a delightful writer. This book was easy to read and it really felt like I was talking to a friend. What is a bummer, though, is that she says A LOT of this stuff on her social media already, and even uses the same words. I found myself skipping lots of paragraphs because I already knew what she was going to say. If you’ve been following her for a while, you may already know like 40% of this book.
