The Authors
Kristen Granata is a teacher by day, and a romance author by night. Known for writing emotional contemporary romance, she loves creating realistic, flawed characters who struggle through the darkest parts of life and come out stronger on the other side. Kristen is a self-proclaimed “bitter cynic trapped in a hopeless romantic’s body.” Her characters pack a sarcastic punch, make you laugh, make you think, make you ugly cry–and they always live happily ever after. If you’re a lover of moving, inspirational reads, Kristen’s your girl. Whats Left of Me PDF
Kristen openly shares her mental health struggles with depression and anxiety with her readers. Her message is a beacon of hope to anyone who is suffering: You are not alone. She delicately weaves this theme into her writing, and her stories demonstrate the ability of love to heal after tragedy.
Kristen was born & raised in New York. She now resides in New Jersey with her wife & two step-daughters. When she’s not teaching or writing, Kristen is reading, making people laugh on social media, indulging in her messy love affair with popcorn, and forever singing along to The Greatest Showman soundtrack.

Life Is All About the Choices We Make
July 16, 2020
WHAT’S LEFT OF ME is a very emotional story. How two very different people, that are both broken and have reached rock bottom, can find hope & love. Their journey is not an easy road to travel. Can “What’s Left of Me” be made whole again? Whats Left of Me PDF
Callie Kingston has sunk into a deep depression and has lost all hope. She is at the point were she doesn’t want to get out of bed. She repeats all the good things in her life, just like her therapist told her. “Maverick (her beloved dog.) California king bed. Walk-in closet. Dream kitchen. Yard with a pool. Mercedes.” But doesn’t mention her husband Paul! She doesn’t care about her appearance and it has been a while since she cared about anything other than becoming a mother. Now even that possibility is gone!
She loves her husband, and feels guilty about everything that she felt she’d put him through in her desperate need to have a baby. He is all she has left now. That would just have to be enough. Her husband isn’t the same man she fell in love with nine years ago. Nor is their home her safe place it once was. This wasn’t the first time he put his hands on her, and wasn’t the first time he promised that it wouldn’t happen again.
Callie didn’t know that her fate was going to change, when she followed Cole Luciano into her neighbor-friend’s backyard. She though she was chasing after a new landscaper. What she found in that yard was an angry and bitter man who had issues. He might have more of a broken soul than herself. Also she had no clue that Cole was her best friend’s brother, and would be living in their pool house. Against unlikely odds, this could be the start of something new. He could be her “Hope.” She could be his “Angel.” They could be each others “Redemption.” You must read the book with all the twist & turns to find the answers. Yet how it turns out in the end is all that really matters.
“In the life that was once mine. With the secrets that were my own. And I choose to smile, because life is all about choices we make. We choose to see things one way or the other. We choose to accept or to hate. We choose to be happy or sad. Bitter or grateful. To forgive or blame.” We always have a choice!

Moving and heartwarming romance

Kristen Granata’s bio states that she is “Known for writing emotional contemporary romance” and that “she loves creating realistic, flawed characters who struggle through the darkest parts of life and come out stronger on the other side.”
After seeing her books featured on a few bookstagram accounts, these two lines were ultimately what sold me on purchasing her novels. That and discovering that she was a fellow self-published author.
The question is, did she deliver and am I a loyal fan for life. Answer: 100%
Kristen’s writing meets my need for the three R’s: real, raw, and relatable. Sure, I love a good sexy romance, but does it feel like it could really happen? In the case of What’s Left of Me, absolutely. These characters and their back stories are so fleshed out and so carefully designed that, for all intents and purposes, they really exist.
Cole is scruffy, brooding, and respects women and family. Need I say more?! Callie is trapped in a toxic marriage carrying guilt and responsibilities she never should have picked up. Together their broken pasts collide to create a love story that leaves the reader believing, not only in love, but in healing.
This book and this author are exactly what I look for in a contemporary romance novel.
Triggers: infertility, child loss, domestic abuse.

Inspirational Romance
August 10, 2020
Based on her last book, Inevitable, I had high expectations going into What’s Left of Me. I was expecting drama, angst, tears and a swoon worthy romance. I feel some of this was delivered and some was lacking. Let me explain.
I think this is more of an inspirational/women’s fiction book than it is a romance. The characters go through such things as domestic abuse, infertility issues, depression, etc. I think the story focuses more on the characters’ personal growth more than anything else; as I feel it should. However, because of this the romance may seem rushed.
Cole and Callie are wonderful characters. What I enjoy most about Granata’s writing is how she creates and develops characters. Her writing truly shines in this department. Their struggles and emotions are never cheapened and feel true to life. The characters truly earn their happiness by the end.
Overall I liked What’s Left of Me. I think it touches upon some taboo issues and does it well. The characters bring the story to life and are certainly ones I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.

Y’ALL! I’m making a bold statement, this is easily one of my top reads of 2020 and could likely be my number 1 read of the year. Quite frankly, this is one of the best books I have ever read. Hands down Kristen’s best work.
–
Callie is truly a beautiful human, she is not your typical heroine and that is truly the highest compliment. Her growth is incredible and had me in awe. Her heart is so pure, her relationships with all of the side characters are so genuine. She is easily one of the most authentic heroines I have ever read.

Cole. Oh my heart, Cole Luciano has me melting. Not just because he is hot, but he definitely is, but because he is the exact type of man that girls dream up as Prince Charming. The kind of man that dads want for their daughters. Truly he is the best. His baggage makes him more endearing, it gives him layers.

These two not only warmed my heart but also wormed their way into my soul. I will carry this book with me for the rest of my life. It will immediately be one of the books I recommend as a must read. Kristen absolutely blew me away, I’m still in awe. This is a prime example of why Indie authors deserve recognition, this book is better than tons of traditionally published books. This story matters and should be shared far and wide.
