Simply written yet thorough

I bought the book since that was my reference during my fellowship in Boston. Very good and straight forward book. You can see the authors know the material from every direction and more importantly write it from my point of view- keep it simple yet thorough. Highly recommended

I just go this new edition of Webb Thoracic Radiology got residency. It is very enjoyable and easy to read. The included Inkling edition makes it available to me on my device all the time and is easily searchable and referencable. It is fairly comprehensive and covers new technology. The images are great and the layout is very intuitive. Highly recommended for residents and attendings!

Invaluable

This is an invaluable reference text for a pulmonologist . It’s clearly organized and supplemented with numerous photos. Each disease is accompanied by a discussion of pathophysiology and clinical presentation. I own and use the second and third editions. It doesn’t get any better than this.

Fantastic place to start for fundamentals of radonc physics
September 10, 2020
Picked Dr. Ford’s book up to supplement physics while studying for ABR physics, chapters are easy to get through and do a great job of outlining key concepts. Problems are helpful to check for understanding without being overly complicated or mathematically intensive. A nice touch is that further references are provided if you need desire further understanding- I paired this with McDermott as a beefier text for certain concepts. Finally, having the videos to reinforce concepts you’re reading is extremely helpful and keeps things interesting. Very good value.

Favorite resource for rad onc boards prep
May 11, 2021
I am a radiation oncology resident and used this to prep for physics boards. It is concise, easily digestible for someone without a formal background in physics (especially with the interactive videos on the publisher’s website), and easy to get through. Most importantly, it covered just about all of the relevant topics. I used this resource as well as several RAPHEX practice exams and felt very well-prepared for the actual exam without getting lost in the weeds of some of the classic textbooks that are good for a general reference, but not as much for board prep.

Must have resource for medical physics board preparation.

What an excellent, comprehensive, and up to date overview of current medical physics practice. Dr. Ford’s book, “Primer on Radiation Oncology Physics: Video Tutorials with Textbook and Problems,” touches on all different learning styles, whether you are a visual, auditory, or tactile learner. This is a must-have resource for any medical physics learner or teacher.

Great Resource to Learn Physics and Pass ABR Physics Board

I just took my ABR physics board and passed. This book was one of the great resource that I used for study. The problem sets at the end of each chapter and Tutorial Videos were so educational.

Best book for rad onc residents, RTT students, dosimetry students, and medical physics teachers
July 6, 2020
I am a radiation oncology physicist and have been teaching the subject for 15 years to medical residents, physics residents, and therapy, dosimetry, and physics students. This is the best book yet written for medical residents as well as therapy and dosimetry students for its clear and simple explanations and its prioritization of concepts. I read it from cover-to-cover, which just shouldn’t happen with a medical physics textbook. It is also strikingly up-to-date, even referring to just-released or forthcoming material. Although the treatment isn’t advanced enough for physicists to learn everything from (it is a “primer” after all), any teaching physicist should look at this for a model on how to approach the material and present it. My only complaint is that the reader is frequently referred to accompanying videos for detail, and I personally am not a video person.
