Worst book ever

Worst book ever. Bad print job, poor writing – honestly, it’s as though a bunch of bored, second-rate PhD students got together and did this as a side project – content errors, spelling errors… it’s the worst textbook I have ever had the misfortune to buy. Our class was the first one to use this book, and after we were done complaining about how awful it was, the faculty is going back the the older Varcarolis text they used to use (which is a MUCH better book, in my opinion). I want to burn this book; it’s that awful. Don’t get this.

A refreshing nursing text that goes back to our roots

This nursing text is very different from the others of its kind in that it helps prepare you to practice from a nurse/patient relationship perspective. There is information about biology and meds, but more importantly how to help someone with mental illness heal within the nursing art of caring, and after all, isn’t that why we all wanted to become nurses in the first place? You will find out a lot about yourself after reading this book. Highly recommended!

It has wonderful information for all nurses caring for patients at all levels. It is informative in the areas of dx and psychopharm and most importantly it targets the human therapeutic relationship which is stressed throughout the book. We don’t have to have tools and machines to be a nurse. We must have caring hearts and a desire to look more into the patients experiences of their illness and how to maneuver as best can be through this with our help. This book helps in these critical key areas.
