Not very impressed

This book is so repetitive and it conveys the same confusing message. The last example is of being on a roller coaster. One page they’re scared, then they’re not, then they are, then not etc. That’s all it says. I think the point is that fun things can sometimes be a little scary, but how a child is supposed to deduce this is from how it’s presented is not helpful at all. Very disappointed.
A win for my 3 & 5 year old

Because of the purchase price we first checked these books out at the library. The kids were instantly fascinated. My kiddos love the illustration in these stories and I read them with funny voices. We have the whole collection so far and I’ll continue to purchase them. They’re simple and a little short but my kids laugh so hard. Big hit for us.
I do not recommend it for this purpose

I was really looking forward to this book after reaing the reviews. However, I felt it did nothing to help a child who is afraid. It only appears to confirm their fear. I do not recommend it for this purpose.
Short funny book that can lead to discussions with your child

We have all of the books written by this author. They are short but funny. My 7 year old dies laughing every time we read them together. They address normal issues that children must learn to navigate in their lives like understanding and dealing with fear, noticing the differences in others and friendships. We are waiting for more books by this author.
A Fantastic Kid’s Story

My kids and I loved this book. I won it on a goodreads giveaway. I’m so glad I did. My kids saw the suggestions at the end and want to read more from this author. The illustrations were wonderful and kept the kids’ attention. This book encouraged discussion about things that make us scared, but if we try things it may not be as scary as we thought. I highly recommend for young readers. It’s also great for beginner readers.

I have read this with 1 and 2 grade children. They loved the story and that it is okay to be scared because sometimes it is fun to be scared. They talked about times they were scared so it opened a dialogue. I love this series and would recommend all of the books even for kids as young as 4 years old.
Not to help your scared child.

Pretty hard to not like a childrens book, but I thought this was supposed to help out a scared child, the book literally talks anout scary things until the last page and then its sucj a letdown. Two stars because my daughter liked the pictures
Just buy all three or four and call it a day

We must own three or four of these books now. My three year old daughter loves them. She calls this one the hugging book, see the cover.
I like it because I can read it cover to cover in just a few minutes. The story is good enough, clear, and the artwork is not at all bad. I’m not sure about the list of items to be scared of, some are not exactly scary, others might be.
Still, this is a great book, and a good series for little ones.
