Becca “I have not read this author before and as I had the chance to read it for free I wanted to give it a go, especially as the title intrigued me.
I would have liked more world building. Such as was this a city for magical creatures? Were there humans? Is this our world or a different world?
With the timeline in the book, I am assuming Wynona did not just investigate at night. So can vampires be out in the day?
How Wynona figured it out it was Roderick intrigued but frustrated me. Her figuring it out was based on him knowing about an allergy. Now I had to reread bits of it because I don’t remember him mentioning an allergy.
So it was frustrating since I had to look back and remember this point, however it was also brilliant because it was such a small comment anyone would have missed it. But Wynona, known for her attention to detail, did remember.
Such a small thing! And I missed the clue. Well done!
I loved the name Wynona. Great choice. I enjoyed her back story and why she was so desperate to protect her name, reputation and tea house.
I also liked Rascal, another great name and I wish we knew his real name. Excellent character and chemistry.
The concept was really good and thought out, other than that small blip in my memory it flowed well.
Overall a great start and I would be interested in continuing the series.”

Wynona is a witch-ish. She lost her powers when they were bound when she was born. Her grandmother helped her escape her family who are powerful and affluent. Her dad is the President but never spoke about her because she doesn’t have powers.
She moves to a new town and plans to open a tea shop but the chef who is supposed to supply her with baked goods is found dead in her office and she is the prime suspect. Throw in a sudden pseudo-love triangle with a man who’s cold and one who’s hot ( and a shapeshifting werewolf to boot!) and you have yourself a rip-off of Twilight. She also has a new janitor who is basically Kreacher from Harry Potter.
Wynona decides that she has to solve the murder mystery herself so she can open her shop and all clues point to… THE KILLER. Yep. Super predictable. I figured out who it was before the body had even dropped.”
