Lesender “Save your money. The book doesn’t hold at all what it promises. It’s always a bad sign if the last line of page is a heading. The book does not have a publisher. Instead the reader is referred to the homepage of some consulting company on the second page. It has 200 pages, but only due to the reason that the font size is at fourth-grader level (therefore only about 6 words fit into one line and only about 25 lines on one page). With normal size, it would have about 50 pages. Content is rather light and totally lacks depth. The writing meanders without being able to clearly elaborate significant ideas, but asks many rhetorical questions and “gives advice” of that type: “If you immediately judge someone, they wil undoubtly remain that for you.” or “Have a little faith, suspend judgment and – again – just listen.” – really? WOW! How mind-blowing! The author spends pages with diffusely repeating to the ideas of others as his own are obviously very short and very light and remain surprisingly unstructured. But the author doesn’t miss a chance to sell commonplaces such as “It’s an old adage that “you can learn something from everyone” and it’s true.” as amazing insights. Save your money. That’s rather deception than a serious book…”

“With every situation you get the chance to relate to what it feels to be part of a conversation, both as a talker and a listener. The examples are also very typical and relatable which makes you process the way you actually listen.

I think it’s carefully and simply written which makes it pleasant to read until the end. There’s nothing out of the ordinary, but the flow of the book really creates a compelling case for why should you revisit your listening skills no matter how poor or outstanding you are at it.

I absorbed in a few hours and even if I had plenty of distractions around, I got back to it because it did not require a serious strain of unnecessary attention. Overall, enjoyable and it fit quite well in the picture of today (had to design an interview question set to identify challenges within companies)

Thanks a lot!”

Stephen C. “I thought I was listening well but my girlfriend kept telling me I wasn’t listening to her. So I looked for a book that would help. This book is very “to the point” which I appreciate. Not a lot of wasted pages and words, just straight to clear instructions of how to change my approach to conversations. Watch for words I use that shift the focus away from her and to me (avoid those words). Identify her emotions and label them, say things like “it sounds like you feel (fill in the blank)” and then “if I were in your shoes I would feel the same way”. Those are just a couple examples from this book.
It worked like magic! The past couple weeks my girlfriend has said things like “thanks for being such a good listener”, which is the opposite of what she had been saying the past several months.”
Kindle Customer “I am so glad I have found and finished reading this book.. It has helped me understand that what I have been experiencing during my conversations is normal (the queues and reading between the lines). Knowing what Emotional Intelligence is gave me the needed confidence when I perceive something which has been communicated (and many times not even verbally expressed). After reading this book, I have been feeling a little more empowered on how to navigate this strange world, and, if enough people would read this awesome guide to better listening, communication and understanding, we would live better lives and teach others to do the same by example.”
