Absolutely perfect

This is, like all of the series, a well written book. It’s also filled with emotions and well considered characters. It moves the series along, addresses long term issues for the characters and still feels like it’s complete enough on its own. I can’t wait for the next book but I don’t feel like there’s a huge cliff hanger I need addressed right now.

Stormy is still learning about being a witch and living back in her hometown. The Winchester’s make an appearance and are always a welcome addition. The plot and subplots move quickly, making it hard to put the book down. I can’t wait for the next book!

What you’ve been waiting for, but not quite

I don’t write reviews, not because I don’t want to but I never feel so strongly enough to have to write them. I am a WOTC NERD who generally buys a lot of the products that said company releases on release day. Needless to say, I also really love DnD as a whole.

With that said, I felt the need to have to write something to let people know what to expect as I sit here flipping through the long waited for Monsters of the Multiverse. First of all, it compiles all (maybe most?) of the previous monstrous races into one book. All of the monsters have been changed to not have the negative racial features some would have been given in previous books and they are put under a “grey” light so to speak. As in, all playable races don’t distinguish their backgrounds as evil or good so as to give a neutral field for playing any of them. Personally, I am old-fashioned and would like the evil/good differences in the description as it helps to get into roleplaying/worldbuilding, but that is what the other previously released books are for.

The above did not change my decision on giving this 3-stars as I welcome the change for more neutral playable races if it means more people will want to play in my hobby. The reason I gave this book 3-stars is because of the rather lackluster addition of monsters in the book. It was advertised as a collaboration of previous monsters, which is absolutely fine, but for the majority of the major demon lords, they are images that are incredibly low-resolution that I was shocked that WoTC would release something like that. It feels incredibly lazy to me that new art couldn’t be commissioned or at least properly copied for a slipcase that costs nearly 140 dollars.

This isn’t to say the rest of the monsters are bad; most of them are beautifully illustrated as one would expect of WoTC quality. I already have the other 2 books and can say they are well done and the foil cover looks great, as well as the DM screen it comes with. I hope they can address this for future prints.
