… Considered an “outside the box”, “visionary and strategic thinker”, and a physician “ahead of his time”, by leading experts at Harvard, Colombia, and the Cleveland Clinic, and beyond.

… Also called the “Leonardo da Vinci” and the “Frank Netter” of Echocardiography.

Dr. Bulwer’s focus is to “educate and equip” today’s students and practitioners with the foundation tools for responsible use cardiac ultrasound “echo” stethoscopes – within their scope of training. Such tools are designed to complement medical education, diagnostic medical sonography programs, clinical practice, and global health.

Dr. Bulwer, a native of Belize, was recognized (by the U.S. government) as a “person of extraordinary ability” based on his contribution in the field of echocardiography education.

Great book

Very informative, excellent print on glossy paper, a lot of detailed static and dynamic (DVD) pictures. I highly recommend it for anybody interested in practical application of Echo. Good to study from and for the review too.

Maybe it is good for someone with a good amount of prior knowledge …

Overly technically wordy. Maybe it is good for someone with a good amount of prior knowledge but certainly confusing and tedious for someone starting with it.

Great resource for learning basic echo

I would recommend this book if you are trying to learn echo. It is easy to read, however the DVD will not work.

The rating of condition on this book was wrong
January 30, 2014

The binding is broken on this book. It was described as “Good” condition. I disagree… I paid WAY too much for a book that I will have to baby all semester for it to not fall apart. There are also 16 pages of the Index missing…

Great introductory echo book
February 9, 2010
When I started cardiology fellowship, everyone in my program recommended Oh and Otto. The problem is that for someone who has never read an echo, those books might be a bit intimidating. Enter Solomon’s book — it covers the basics nicely in an easy to understand manner. It has an accompanying DVD with sample echo images. It even has a step by step guide on how to scan an echo. However, a caveat would be that the book does not cover topics in depth and is not as extensive on topics as the other books.

In summary, this is probably the best echo book for someone who has never seen or read echo’s before and is great for fellows or techs starting out. For more intermediate depth, Otto and/or Oh are better. For the most comprehensive text, most would agree that Feigenbaum is the way to go.
