ENDLESS SUMMER Color by Number, Creative Haven Coloring Book by George Toufexis (2022)

I love these color by number books from Creative Haven. Like another reviewer mentioned, I too wish the lines were darker instead of the medium gray color that they are. I also wish the numbers weren’t so hard to see. No doubt people with poor eyesight will have difficulty with this book for that reason alone.

The images themselves are all great with a variety of outdoor scenes. The palette has some pastels mixed with standard colors which makes for an interesting combination, but keep in mind you can change a color if you don’t like the one provided. The paper is white, moderately thick, one sided, and even perforated for easy removal.

Because of the light hue of the outlines I prefer to use a mix of both crayons and colored pencils myself. If you are an experienced colorist however you can use markers or even paints, although you may want to remove the page first for either of these options to avoid any sort of bleeding that might occur.

Overall it’s a really nice coloring book that I’m glad I bought. Please note that the small image on the title page is way too blurry to read the numbers. There is a full-size one of the same image inside the book so it’s not that big a deal. Just something I noticed because I usually begin with that small picture first.

I love these Creative Haven Color by Number books. I think I have most of them and I always order the newest one when I see it coming out. This one has great drawings, a nice variety. The numbers a very small, so those of us that are getting a bit older might need to break out the reading glasses to see the numbers clearly. I don’t mind the gray lines as others have mentioned, but the issue I have ran into with this book and the last one is the wrong number being put in the wrong place. For example, on mine, the picture on the cover shows the background trees on the right side of the page green. But on my actual page to color, it is mislabeled to be colored red. So, if you are paying attention as you go, you will catch these mistakes, otherwise you just have to use your imagination and be creative to give it a fall look instead. There are also a few spots missing numbers all together, but it shows color when you look at the small example on the front or back inside cover.

Aside from these mistakes, I still really enjoy coloring these Creative Haven Color by Number books. There are a couple I have bought a second copy of after finishing the first! And some of the earlier released books that only have a color key without listing the names of the colors, I am hoping someday may be updated to list the names of the colors, or slightly change the colors to be a bit easier to match. (Example – the Color by Number Dogs)

Beautiful art

These books have beautiful art but it’s frustrating, that they keep making them with grey lines. Such intricate art is hard to color with grey lines and always ends up looking messy. The art is complex and amazing, it’s a shame. Love these types of books.

Can’t see the numbers well

I’m 61. Fairly good eyesight. The numbers are so hard to see in these books. I have returned them and went with another artist. I don’t want to stress with this hobby. Too bad because the art is so pretty. But pointless if you can’t see to color. I wish they would upgrade. Lots of comments similar to this.

Sorry but this book was too light to even see the numbers and the pictures were very tiny to even use a colored pencil.

Beautiful artwork but missing/incorrect numbers

I have been buying the Creative Haven colour by number books for years and have always loved them. However, the past two new releases (this one and Around the World) I’ve noticed that a lot of numbers are missing in the pictures so you have to try and figure it out from the tiny, blurry pictures on the inside cover. I understand missing 2 or 3 but I am currently working on the second picture in the book and it’s missing 10+ (So far) of numbers. I still love these books and will continue to buy but I just wish they would do some thorough editing before they release the book!

George Toufexis is the top of his game with these masterpieces. One has a beautiful picture when finished. Love the perforated pages. He has a different color choice for each of his books. I look forward to buying any of his new projects.
