Features of Electronics for Absolute Beginners PDF

The history of electronics can be traced back to 1874 when Irish scientist George Johnstone Stoney (1826-1911) suggested that electricity must be “built” out of tiny electrical charges. Twenty years later, he coined the name “electron”. Electronics for Absolute Beginners PDF

Interest in electronics gradually increased over the decades following Stoney’s discovery. In 1947 the transistor was invented by William Shockley, John Bardeen and Walter Brattain at Bell Labs, which revolutionized the computer industry by replacing fragile, power hungry valves with much smaller and reliable devices. During the 1950s and 60s, computers became more powerful and smaller, eventually leading to the introduction of the home personal computer (PC) in the 1970s.

Today, electronic devices are all around us … computers, cell (mobile) phones, televisions, calculators, hearing aids, and cars are just a few examples of devices that form part of everyday life in the 21st century and which make use of electronics.

The purpose of this book is to introduce the subject of electronics to people who have no prior knowledge of the subject. If you don’t know what a prototyping breadboard is, or have no idea what a resistor or diode do, then this book will help you to gain a basic understanding of what electronics components exist and what they are used for. You will also learn how to combine such components to build electronics circuits.

Although there is a logical flow in the way that information is presented, you can pretty much jump around from chapter to chapter as it suits you, picking out the material that is of most interest.

Table of Contents

The Authors

Electronics for Absolute Beginners PDF

Dr. Philip Dixon lectures at University of Wales College, Lampeter, and is Academic Tutor at the Maryvale Institute.
Philip was born in Gateshead in the north east of England and despite coming from a family that had nothing whatsoever to do with farming, always wanted to be a dairy farmer. To achieve this, he spent his teenage years on farms in the north east of England in the 1960s and 1970s, acquiring his own farm in Yorkshire and then setting up a dairy products business in Consett, County Durham.
In 2012 he found himself in the difficult position of saying goodbye to his son, who would be spending some time abroad. Knowing that communication would be difficult, Philip decided to write to him weekly, with tales of his early experiences of venturing into the world. Although Philip didn’t know it at the time, these letters would become his first book, Dairy Cows and Duck Races.
Besides farming, Philip has renovated houses, run a chambre d’hote in France, worked as building manager in a special needs school, appeared on television and radio and had series of articles written about him in the British publication, The Farmers Weekly. Presently he lives in Dorset, south west England with his wife, Heather. He has four children of his own and is stepfather to three more, all of whom are now adults.

Poorly written, then further screwed up by self-publishing.

I was trying to get fresh ideas about components when I picked up this kindle book. It quickly became apparent that the writer had avoided any editing and proofreading of the MS. It’s hard to tell what mistakes in it were committed during the writing and which came about by simply ignoring the printed results. Here are some examples, guaranteed verbatim:
in a section on diodes he writes, regarding diodes: ” DIAC Operates in the form of twodiodes (sic) parallel Schokley anti-(see photo on page 17).” A page or two later, an LED is described: “LED is an acronym for light(lightemitting diodemitting diode).”
The first chapter, on individual components, is entitled: “Tips on Electronic Components and Techniques Welding” Welding? Far as I can tell, there is no discussion of welding in the book, but there is no table of contents, so I can’t be sure. Those oversights were all in the first nine pages. The author may be an expert on his subject matter, and there may be a usable book on electronics in here somewhere, but so little effort was put into the final product that it was worthless to me.

INTRODUCCION A LA ELECTRONICA
September 27, 2021
