Buy Only the Spiral-Bound Version
January 7, 2019
I bought this on Kindle but found that studying from that format is fraught with difficulty. If you want to learn this material, buy the spiral-bound version which you can highlight and jump around in. You’ll have to go back and forth to the review questions at the back, and that’s a pain with the Kindle format. The material in the book is first-rate and well presented. See you on the air.

I highly suggest you do NOT buy the kindle version of this book. I can’t read any of the diagrams and many of the charts easily, particularly the schematics section of the book. I bought this to refresh some old knowledge since I’m already a licensed HAM radio operator, and I cannot suggest highly enough to purchase the PAPERBACK version of this book to prepare for your exam. Good luck and try to have fun, HAM radio is awesome!

I would say this is the bible of Technician class Ham radio. It will not only help you take the exam but will enlighten you about all the facets of Ham Radio. You treat this book the way a scout treats the scouting handbook.

Passed the exam a day earlier than I was supposed to take it… absolutely consider this the best resource and system. I really liked that the Kindle version lets you jump to the actual test questions are you are reading the background info, adding context and increasing memorization.

Had to buy a Hard Copy Manual

The book is written just as the hard copy notebook. But, the note book in hard copy with rings is something this old timer needed to study. I take my Ham Technician Exam in a week (and expect to pass).

Good study manual for taking the test, but you need to be sure it is updated for the latest date to match the testing period as it changes I think every 4 years.

Get this to upgrade to Extra Class

Need to get an upgrade from General Class? This is the book I used along with on-line applications to get my Extra Class the same night as I tested for General. Also, it is a great reference book to have in your ham shack.

I used the Kindle version to study for and pass the technician class license exam. Particularly using Kindle for PC, it is easy to jump to related exam questions from any section of the text. Manual contains the entire exam question pool.
