Caroline is dedicated to creating educational programs in the field of human consciousness, spiritually and mysticism, health, energy medicine, and advancing the science of medical intuition. She established CMED, her own educational institute, in 2003, which offers two programs running three courses per year, on Sacred Contracts and Mysticism. Additionally, Caroline maintains a rigorous workshop and lecture schedule internationally and continues a consultation practice with physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other health practitioners, as a medical intuitive.

In 1996, Caroline compiled her years of research in medical intuition with her work in the field of human consciousness, releasing the book, ANATOMY OF THE SPIRIT. This book became a New York Times bestseller and has been published in 18 languages. To date, it has sold over 1.5 million copies.

In investigating the underlying reasons why people sabotage their healing processes, Caroline identified a syndrome as ‘woundology’, characterized by a person who prefers to rely upon the power of illness for manipulation of his or her world as opposed to attained an independent, empowered state of health. As with her other ground-breaking research, this syndrome is now a recognized psychological condition. Her work in this area became the subject of her fourth book, WHY PEOPLE DON’T HEAL and HOW THEY CAN. This book was Caroline’s second New York Times bestseller.

Caroline released her fifth book, SACRED CONTRACTS, which became her third New York Times bestseller. As with her previous books, this one is also in 18 languages and reports sales of well over 1.6 million.

Due to the interest generated by her work in Sacred Contracts, in 2003, Caroline opened CMED (Caroline Myss Education), her own educational institute. CMED offers two programs per year, each three sessions long. The first is on Sacred Contracts and the second is on Mysticism, Intuition, and Healing. The Institute draws students from nineteen nations, as well as across the United States.

In 2004, Caroline released her sixth book, INVISIBLE ACTS OF POWER, which also became a New York Times bestseller. She is now working on her seventh book: ENTERING THE CASTLE. She has also just published her first book through her company, CMED, entitled, THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF GEORGE WASHINGTON, an extraordinary piece of literature that was channeled sixty years ago by a nearly-blind woman named Edith Ellis. Myss considers this project to be a vital part of her commitment to support an archive of information on her personal passion, which is the mystical history of America.

Through the years of her career, Caroline has taught in thirty-five countries, continuing her international work at present. In addition to writing six books, Caroline is the leading recording artist for Sounds True, Inc., the major audio recording company in the holistic field. She has recorded with them since 1990, producing 30 different titles. Her entire library of recordings now number of 180.

In 2003, Oprah Winfrey gave Caroline her own television program for one year with the OXYGEN network in New York City, which ran successfully for one year.

FABULOUS – a good place to begin or continue

So far, this is the best! Defy Gravity is her most comprehensive, easily accessible work. In fact, if I only bought one book by Caroline Myss, this would be it. I have read and/or listened to all of Caroline’s work (except for Entering the Castle which I now feel ready for). While I’ve learned from each, some of her material is easier to absorb than others – and the format makes a difference, even within the same work. For example, I found Anatomy of The Spirit more accessible by CD than in the book.

Caroline Myss is logical, methodical, honest, and cares deeply about helping us all realize our highest potential. She is definitely a “you can pick yourself up by your own bootstraps” kind of gal. She does calls it likes she sees it, freely admitting her own humanity and her occassionally snarky side because she wants you to know YOU ALREADY HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO THRIVE. She gives you a detailed map and asks if are willing to accept some personal responsibility, then pray to the divine (in the planet, god of your choice, or your best self – Caroline Myss is a big picture person not limited by a religious tradition, though she was raised Catholic), and lastly act on what you know in your heart to be true. Does she dare suggest prayer? Yes. However, this book in no way says “just pray”.

Words matter. Caroline Myss knows this. She is daring and pushy – but always with heart behind it so don’t worry about intent. However, if the word “pray” is a trigger that trumps all others for you in a negative way, then this is probably not the book for you. If you can expand your definition of prayer to encompass “focus your thoughts and intentions”, then you might be able to hear the bigger message, and it is worthwhile. Do you feel that there should be more in your life? Are you having trouble accessing your own intuition – and following its advice? Read on. Defy Gravity ties many pieces together. As I said, I think this is her best work so far. I read it cover to cover, bought extra copies for gifts, and am now about to buy the CD so I can absorb it another way. If you are worried about the money, don’t forget about the library – but read it and let Defy Gravity help your spirit do just that.

Caroline Myss, whose book – Archetypes – liberated me and two of my closest friends from our “caregiver” to excess roles, is an author I admire, I enjoy reading and I trust. She did not disappoint me with this book – Defy Gravity. It could not have come at a better time for me, having just been diagnosed with melanoma. And the book could not have been more helpful. There is no mumbo jumbo in this book; there is a practical, step by step approach to helping you rid yourself of anger, fear and resentment. We all harbor these emotions, feeling hurt, rejected, or vengeful. But Defy Gravity slowly and gently helps the reader to see that clinging to negative emotions of any kind only does harm to you. This book is a mixture of common sense, practical tips and spiritual guidance that can liberate you from fear, flood your life with joy and help you find peace — all necessary ingredients to healing. Defy Gravity is one book that I will read over and over again and give as a gift to as many people as I can. Read it. When I first read the prayers for the seven graces, I felt the energy coming from them (they are mystical and not of an everyday sensing). It is a beautiful energy. I knew then the book would be a rare adventure, not a book to just read, but an experience to follow. I do the seven passions with the graces daily and the results are a purification process that is like a thunder-pounding and lightening-cracking experience that dawns into a spring day with the flowers blooming and the birds chirping, and then it begins again … and again … .

This is a timely book because to heal the planet and life on the planet, it will take a purification process and the transformation that comes out of that process. More and more we are seeing “white” creatures in nature: Whales and hummingbirds and buffalo, etc. They are like the Spirit speaking to us of peace and purification: Wake up, and wake up before it is too late–they definitely get our attention. Myss’ book is one way to achieve this. Some may see it differently, and this may not be their path, but this is gift for those who are open to transformation.
