Jordi Rello, is Chairman of Medicine at Universitat Internacional de Catalunya. Also he’s professor of translational medicine at CHU NÎmes, Nimes, France. He has been PI in above 50 RCT, has experience in Ad Boards for drug development, innovation in medical devices and in organizing educational preceptorship programs. He has served as advisor for some investors and investing companies, such as Ysios Capital in Biomedicine- Member of the Scientific Board of the V Hebron Institute of Research for 5 years and member of the first Board on Innovation (Director: R. Egea) developed at VHIR.
His Research Group has large experience in clinical trials, developing projects on biomarkers in (lung) transplant, (pulmonary) infection and sepsis. This group has investigators from the adult ICU, paediatric ICU and Organ, tissues and cell transplant department at H Hebron Hospital in Barcelona, an institution performing above 100 lung transplants per year. deep “I have used this in various editions for quite a while. This is the latest including such as CAR-T cells. The authors provide a great introduction to immunology generally adequate for an introductory med school course providing understanding of all the elements of the innate and adaptive system with a reasonable number of clinical insights. The writing is clear, lucid, and direct, and the student should have no problem working through the material.

For working physicians, this is a great update that is becoming an essential part of almost all medical practice.

This is not a pathological guide for diagnosis and treatment of immune system disorders. It is a superb first cut but as one gets deeper then one needs added insight. For example the application of cytokine induced killer cells has great potential. Also it would have been useful to see some discussion on Tumor Associated Macrophages because the text leave the reader assuming all macrophages are the same. This is one of the concerns one has with immunology in general, namely it is an ever growing field and as one tries to compact it for teaching purposes certain critical nuances get lost. The authors have done their consistent brilliant job but as the field expands and as patients come in with almost state of the art questions the practicing physician will and must keep as current as possible. This book is a great basis for that.

Overall this is a necessary addition to any praticing physicians reference table just to keep up.”

Hätte ich mich nicht so sehr darauf gefreut, in dieses Buch einzutauchen, hätte ich es umgehend wieder zurückgeschickt. Da ich sonst mit den -Lieferungen grundsätzlich zufrieden bin, werte ich das Malheur als “Ausrutscher” und steige, was Buchsendungen angeht, (noch) nicht aus. Leider gab es keine Möglichkeit, das Feedback auf einer anderen “-Plattform” zu geben. Deshalb geschieht es hier.”

It does an amazing job integrating cell biology, histology, biochemistry, and anatomy with disease pathologies. Although it is a relatively longer textbook, it provides chock full of information that pops up on multiple question banks (UWorld, Amboss, Kaplan). I plan on using this book to study for the Pathology NBME, as well as the NBME comprehensive and STEP1.”
