Promotes ease of understanding with a unique problem-solving method and new clinical application scenarios! Chemistry and Physics for Nurse Anesthesia 3rd Edition PDF

With a focus on chemistry and physics content that is directly relevant to the practice of anesthesia, this text delivers—in an engaging, conversational style–the breadth of scientific information required for the combined chemistry and physics course for nurse anesthesia students. Now in its third edition, the text is updated and reorganized to facilitate a greater ease and depth of understanding. It includes additional clinical application scenarios, detailed, step-by-step solutions to problems, and a Solutions Manual demonstrating a unique method for solving chemistry and physics problems and explaining how to use a calculator. The addition of a third author–a practicing nurse anesthetist–provides additional clinical relevance to the scientific information. Also included is a comprehensive listing of need-to-know equations.

The third edition retains the many outstanding learning features from earlier editions, including a special focus on gases, the use of illustrations to demonstrate how scientific concepts relate directly to their clinical application in anesthesia, and end-of-chapter summaries and review questions to facilitate self-assessment. Ten on-line videos enhance teaching and learning, and abundant clinical application scenarios help reinforce scientific principles and relate them to day-to-day anesthesia procedures. This clear, easy-to-read text will help even the most chemistry- and physics-phobic students to master the foundations of these sciences and competently apply them in a variety of clinical situations.

Decent book

Decent book. Some of the information is not explained as well. For instance, when it says the answer is 19.6 Joules, then it says 20 J or 2.0 x 10^1, it doesn’t explain that it rounded 19.6 to get 20. Also, double check Chapter 14 for the answers. All of them are not correct. So you’ve gotta know your stuff. TONS of formulas to know. But I made it through!!

Our teacher picked a horrible book and this book is pointless so far
September 16, 2017

This book is just physics and chemistry. There is no correlation to nurse anesthesia what so ever. Our teacher picked a horrible book and this book is pointless so far. The authors are not CRNA’s and the material is for a chemistry and physics major, nothing relevant about nurse anesthesia so far. Granted i will say i am only on chapter 3, but trust me, if takes 3 chapters to get any relevancy about the title, that says something.

Lacks so much…
May 31, 2020
First, this book does a fairly good job at breaking it down for easy understanding. However the huge amount of typos and grammatical errors make it a struggle to read sometimes. It also does not break down the rational for the problems in the text book so you’ll be reading, come to a practice problem and can’t figure out the answer and then don’t know where you went wrong- which just irritates the hell out of you. All in all the editing of the book was rushed or not combed through thoroughly and it lacks in chapter assistance to the problems as well as confusing problem/answers in the back of the book (in part due to typos and calculation errors).
