Love this book. I read the first volume on Mrs. Mellon’s garden and could not wait to finally see the inside of her homes. As a style icon, she was so clever and chic. The placement of her art, the simple dining chairs, her paint color selections, the baskets, I could go on and on. I have many spent hours pouring over this book and know that I will refer to it as a reference in years to come. Mrs. Mellon’s friendship with Jacqueline Kennedy and her inspiration in Mrs. Kennedy’s home’s was also very important to me, as a reader because I know that Mrs. Kennedy respected Mrs. Mellon. I loved the book so much, that I ordered additional copies for friends as gifts. A must for anyone that enjoys beauty !

Pre-Ordered and Not Impressed With This Book

Overall, a very underwhelming tome on Bunny Mellon’s homes. Though a rather large book, it was not filled with great pictures fo the exteriors and only vignettes of many of the interiors. More artist renderings than actual photographs. I enjoyed Bunny Mellon’s Garden Journal, and thought this would be a perfect companion (filling in more information and images of her numerous, iconic homes).
I pursued through it twice, and nothing caught my eye as exemplary, and I have quickly added it to my box(es) going to Half Price Books for Resale – a costly mistake for buying it prior to reading any review.
Others may like it, but sadly I did not. As a collector (somewhat of a hoarder) of coffee table books, this was a disappointment.

This book is the perfect companion to Garden Secrets of Bunny Mellon. Because I am even more interested in interiors than in gardening, I found this volume even more compelling. The photography is brilliant and relevant, as is the commentary. Another commendable effort by this talented trio. I highly recommend!

Very enjoyable pictures and entertaining narrative. I also loved the illustrations – I thought they portrayed an intimate side of Bunny’s lifestyle. A great coffee table book.
