A really fun read

I bought and read all six of Mindy’s mini-books and they were great. I liked this one the best and am DYING to know what jerk A-list celebrity couldnt bother to say thank you for a free dinner! Also that “sorry-not sorry” email he eventually sent Mindy was pretty pathetic too.

Should’ve been combined into one “book”

This series should’ve been combined into one podcast, different episodes, or into one “book” (I use the term loosely). Each “book” is simply a different “chapter” and it was really annoying to have to download each one separately. They also started out funny, but with each added episode, her quirks, the things that make her endearing and “normal” started to become less entertaining (and sounded more like complaining, judging, and “take it out leave it”). Well, it’s not hard to see my preference.

Meh at best

To start, I’ll concede that I’m not very sensitive nor empathetic, and that while I’m a bit nerdy I identify and others would probably identify me as a late middle aged, neurotypical, woman. I picked up this book because my late 20’s daughter is on the spectrum (and I at least was clueless about that, til she was near adulthood) and I hoped to gain insights about her and others who struggle “in a world not made for them.” No help for me in this book. I found it an unsatisfying mix of personal reflections, random vignettes, and second hand science. Couldn’t get through more than half of it. ( In contrast and as a point of reference, I found Neurotribes by Steve Silberman eye-opening and thought-provoking.)
