Gary Firestein, MD, is a board-certified rheumatologist who diagnoses and treats patients with autoimmune conditions as well as diseases of the joints, muscles and bones. I believe there is a direct correlation between having situational awareness and effective communication skills. Some of the same skills we are taught on how to carry ourselves, how to communicate with others so they feel heard, and how to have a growth mindset-can be applied to our personal safety. This book connected the dots for me and I found myself saying, “Yes! Now I understand how these two topics are related!” many, many times.
