Anti-Science
October 31, 2018
It pains me to say that this book is substantially anti-science. It portrays ME/”CFS”, and certain other diseases long proven to be organic, as mental disorders. This idea has been disproven time and again in the scientific literature. This is truly unfortunate. This particular brand of charlatanism causes a great amount of iatrogenic morbidity and even mortality.

For example, from the section on “CFS”(pp.43-46):
“[I]t is now clear that the two treatments that have proven efficacy for the management of CFS/ME are CBT and graded-exercise therapy (GET), when carried out by experienced therapists with a good knowledge and understanding of CFS/ME. What is not helpful in terms of recovery, is limiting activities to conserve energy – this limits symptoms in the short term, but will contribute to declining levels of functional ability in the long term.”

Ban this dangerous book
October 31, 2018
This book should be banned and withdrawn and the publishers and authors should prepare for legal action I suggest. The Cochrane Review withdrawal of endorsement of treatments like GET for ME/Chrinic Fatigue Syndrome and the publication since 2015 of official USA Governement warnings about the use of GET in treating ME/CFS indicate that this book is likely to be judged misleading, deceptive and dangerous. I suggest the publisher withdraw the book.

Based on discredited information about M.E that causes suffering. It is not a psychological illness but a physiological one…don’t take my word for it…do your research you’ll see why this book is wrong

All symptoms do not necessarily map to an abnormal test result
November 2, 2018
Unfortunately new medical diseases continue to occur and so medical research continues to this very day. We don’t know every single thing about every possible disease that will ever exist. We are not finished. We cannot say that if no test shows an abnormal result, then the problem is in your head. Medical science actually evolved past thinking this some time ago. It seems like more of a history book on how archaic and cruel medicine once was. This is NOT medicine today.

Medically unexplained is not the same as medically unexplainable.

Medically unexplained is not the same as medically unexplainable. This book blames patients for their symptoms and passes responsibility from the professionals to the patient.
