Great reference for anyone doing MRI or other human heat analysis

I regularly use information in the two volumes of this book in my work analyzing MRI compatibility of medical implants and other devices that enter a magnetic resonance imaging system. Very well written and understandable.

This is a comprehensive book on heating transfer inside human body. In the first few chapters, the fundamentals of the heating transfer mechanism are reviewed. Based on this framework, the tissue related heating due to various energy sources were discussed in the following chapters, particularly related to MRI induced heating with and without implantable medical devices. This is a very good reference book for scientists and graduate students working in the related fields to understand the heating aspect of the safety inside human body models. Our group used some of the thermal modeling methods from the book in our research and found the methods were very helpful.

My research involves high-field MRI and neuro-modulation studies, and from time to time, I need to quantify local heating due to safety concern. This book provides very helpful content in such bio-heat environment modeling, and with the codes my work becomes quite efficient. A very good book just showed up in time!
