Maine, 1969. After losing her parents in a car accident, aspiring artist Annalisa Mancuso lives with her grandmother and their large Italian family in the stifling factory town of Payton Mills. Inspired by her mother, whose own artistic dreams disappeared in a damaged marriage, Annalisa is dedicated only to painting. Closed off to love, and driven as much by her innate talent as she is the disillusionment of her past, Annalisa just wants to come into her own. The Singing Trees A Novel PDF

The first step is leaving Payton Mills and everything it represents. The next, the inspiring opportunities in the city of Portland and a thriving New England art scene where Annalisa hopes to find her voice. But she meets Thomas, an Ivy League student whose attentions—and troubled family—upend her pursuits in ways she never imagined possible. As their relationship deepens, Annalisa must balance her dreams against an unexpected love. Until the unraveling of an unforgivable lie.

For Annalisa, opening herself up to life and to love is a risk. It might also be the chance she needs to finally become the person and the artist she’s meant to be.

Another phenomenal book by Mr Walker
August 3, 2021

I am a huge fan of Boo Walker’s books and with this one, he hit it completely out of the park. Somehow he always exceeds my already high expectations with each writing and The Singing Trees is no exception. Read it, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Mr Walker has delivered an absolute masterpiece. Annalisa is the perfect character, relatable and flawed yet someone the reader deeply cares about. I found myself so completely immersed in this story and I know that it’s one I’ll return to time and time again throughout the years.

Boo, your net appeared. 💗

A Story Well Told
August 6, 2021

I just finished reading The Singing Trees today. Boo Walker has a way of building his characters and describing the environment and developing a story in a way that makes it difficult to put the book down. I am so grateful that I found this author who can make me feel like I am right in the middle of the story. In this book, I can relate to the characters and their unique situations. I’ve never been to Maine but I feel like I’ve been there. I am of the age of the Vietnam era. I know veterans who lived through that war. I am a recent widow in my late 70s and know that companionship brings a happiness that Nonna and Walt had. Annalisa knew what her dream was but ran into so many obstacles to achieve that dream and also to find love. This was a comfortable yet thought provoking story. I also really enjoyed Boo Walker’s Red Mountain Chronicles and An Unfinished Story and look forward to his future endeavors.

One of the best books you MUST READ
September 7, 2021

I read slot and I’ve enjoyed a lot of books but Boo Walker has reached next level greatness with this book. As I was reading I was shocked to find I had tears running down my face. After the second time I had to put the book down and think about it. I’m not a cryer. Ever. Only happy tears for me and that’s very rare for me. My loved ones would have been shocked I cried over a book. Then Boo Walker ripped my heart out and stomped on it. I ugly cried. Not once but twice! Don’t miss this incredible book about love. I loved the authors Red Mountain books and I’ll read them again one day but The Singing Trees will remain with me for a long time. This is a book that tops my list of great books. I didn’t even see it coming. I will read anything Boo Walker writes. He’s so good.

Thé Singing Trees
August 26, 2021

Good story idea. Long on drama that is easily seen through and not necessary. The lié about thé Vietnam woman so thin from the beginning it is hard to imagine why it took so long to finally come to light. Such a lovely character as Thomas can’t be accused of this sort of behavior and have it believable. In reality Anna would never have rejected Thomas on this ruse especially with his family’s history. The long estrangement between Thomas and Emma is very believable. Read the book and decide for yourself if my critical thoughts are nit picking or worth note.

Get This Book!

I was kindly blessed with an ARC offering of this wonderfully written read, even so, I also preordered it the first day available. Admittedly, I’m a huge fan of Boo Walker.
In a world of light beer and burgers, this is a delightful feast of fine merlot and lobster tortellini!
Walker manages to weave together the complexity of generational relationships and class disparity while walking the fine line of balancing dysfunctional family dynamics.. I laughed, cried and finally cheered for the good guys!
You’ll meet and become immediately invested in Annalisa, a young girl balancing the desperate loss of her parents while she struggles to fulfill her deep need to create and succeed, thinking that she simply must choose either career or family.
Boo Walker simply has a way with words, evocative, minus the cheese.

Bravo! Boo Walker, Bravo! Your story made my heart sing!
August 22, 2021

After reading the Red Mountain series, I couldn’t wait to read another Boo Walker book, and I wanted desperately to move to Washington State, again!
At first, I was a little disappointed as it seemed to get off to a slow, sad start. Don’t stop reading! I had not known that this story would match my own historical timeline. As I do not believe that Boo Walker is nearly my same age, or the age of these characters, the history of that time was well researched and well written. I too, had a desperate need to get out of a small town and begin a new life after high school. I also had a husband and friends who suffered in the Viet Nam war. But, I must say, that even without any of these connections, I think I would have fallen into this story, and fallen in love! Speaking of “finding one’s VOICE”, Boo Walker has done that, and I felt transported into that loving family and spirit. It is a wonderful story of redemption and love. il mio cuore canta! My heart sings!

This beautifully written story grabs your attention right from the first sentence. A young girl dreams about succeeding as an artist during a time when dreams of any kind seem unreachable. Through trials and tribulations she achieves those dreams and so much more.
