Features of The Moral Case for Fossil Fuels PDF

For decades, environmentalists have told us that using fossil fuels is a self-destructive addiction that will destroy our planet. Yet at the same time, by every measure of human well-being, from life expectancy to clean water to climate safety, life has been getting better and better. The Moral Case for Fossil Fuels PDF

How can this be?

The explanation, energy expert Alex Epstein argues in The Moral Case for Fossil Fuels, is that we usually hear only one side of the story. We’re taught to think only of the negatives of fossil fuels, their risks and side effects, but not their positives—their unique ability to provide cheap, reliable energy for a world of seven billion people. And the moral significance of cheap, reliable energy, Epstein argues, is woefully underrated. Energy is our ability to improve every single aspect of life, whether economic or environmental.

If we look at the big picture of fossil fuels compared with the alternatives, the overall impact of using fossil fuels is to make the world a far better place. We are morally obligated to use more fossil fuels for the sake of our economy and our environment.

Drawing on original insights and cutting-edge research, Epstein argues that most of what we hear about fossil fuels is a myth. For instance . . .

Myth: Fossil fuels are dirty.
Truth: The environmental benefits of using fossil fuels far outweigh the risks. Fossil fuels don’t take a naturally clean environment and make it dirty; they take a naturally dirty environment and make it clean. They don’t take a naturally safe climate and make it dangerous; they take a naturally dangerous climate and make it ever safer.

Myth: Fossil fuels are unsustainable, so we should strive to use “renewable” solar and wind.
Truth: The sun and wind are intermittent, unreliable fuels that always need backup from a reliable source of energy—usually fossil fuels. There are huge amounts of fossil fuels left, and we have plenty of time to find something cheaper.

Myth: Fossil fuels are hurting the developing world.
Truth: Fossil fuels are the key to improving the quality of life for billions of people in the developing world. If we withhold them, access to clean water plummets, critical medical machines like incubators become impossible to operate, and life expectancy drops significantly. Calls to “get off fossil fuels” are calls to degrade the lives of innocent people who merely want the same opportunities we enjoy in the West.

Taking everything into account, including the facts about climate change, Epstein argues that “fossil fuels are easy to misunderstand and demonize, but they are absolutely good to use. And they absolutely need to be championed. . . . Mankind’s use of fossil fuels is supremely virtuous—because human life is the standard of value and because using fossil fuels transforms our environment to make it wonderful for human life.”

AMAZING BOOK. I wish they’d do another run of these.

This book is useful for everyone: the people that think they’re hypoglycemic because they get “the shakes” and “hangry” when they haven’t eaten. More importantly, useful for those of us with actual, reactive hypoglycemia.

My mother had a stroke from hypoglycemia when she was 31. For 13 years, I’ve had major issues with my hypoglycemia. Having attacks several times a day, ruining vacations, etc. This book Hypoglycemia PDF gave me a better understanding of my type of hypoglycemia and what to do to make it better. It’s been 4 months, I have quit drinking, went vegetarian, and have had only ONE hypo attack!

I have read countless books on the condition. This is the one. Get it.

This is the most valuable book I have ever owned. I had a strange set of symptoms including shakiness, severe anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, lack of visual focus (felt like part of my brain was lacking oxygen), and the feeling that I was at death’s door. I went from doctor to doctor and none of them could find out what was wrong. I felt so hopeless. I went to a local nutrition store and the proprietor listened to my symptoms and immediately said it was hypoglycemia. He recommended this book to me, so I bought it. In the mean time, I got a blood glucose monitor from my doctor and tested my sugar when my symptoms where coming through. Sure enough, I read in the 40’s and 50’s! After eating high carb meals, my blood sugar would spike to 140, then drop down low. According to the diagrams in the book, I have the most severe case of hypoglycemia.

I started following the diet, and by the second day I was already feeling better. I am only a week into it and I feel like a new person, able to enjoy life, relax and just be. What a wonderful book this is! For those of you on the fence, please try this book Hypoglycemia PDF . I was very very ill but am able to function so much better. I hope the same for you!

I stumbled across this 70’s-era book while reading through some supplement Reviews here on & thought it might be able to help me address some lifelong Inattentive ADD (Inattentive Attention Deficit Disorder) daydreaminess. After doing some reading elsewhere, it appears that the genetic links with inattentive ADD and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) may be inter-related. Although personally, I see my inattentive ADD as just a part of what makes me “me” and I think it makes great contributions to creativity, there are times I’d prefer to be able to harness and direct my energies more effectively. Hence my search for more info.

This is a TERRIFIC book, filled with insight and excellent (though completely counter-intuitive) advice on dietary changes to help “even out” the blood sugar drops that can give you that “spaced-out,” daydreamy feeling that lays at the heart of inattentive ADD. All of my adult life, I’ve subscribed to the typical advice for hypoglycemics: up the protein, cut the carbs. Oh, and don’t forget the coffee : )

Guess what? That advice may be TOTALLY WRONG for many of us, according to the author of this book, Dr. Paavo Airola. His advice is to up the complex carbs and add healthy GRAINS (something I was told to avoid) and to practice systematic undereating.

In a nutshell, I’ve implemented many of the ideas in this book & much to my pleased and amazed surprise, it’s GREAT ADVICE. And the best part is that foods I’d cut from my diet but actually enjoy eating are back on the menu. Yogurt, kefir, oats, wheat, spelt, bread, brewer’s yeast, raw honey and more. I’ve found more sustained energy and fewer “dips” since reading & implementing the advice here. Add some 2015 era supplements, minerals, and time your meals properly and you may be truly amazed at the improvement in your sustained energy levels.

Just FYI, as mentioned in the book, the only accurate way to clinically diagnose hypoglycemia (and there are several varieties) is with a SIX-HOUR glucose tolerance test, performed by a lab.

It’s very possible that something as simple as addressing hypoglycemia could improve the issues at the root of your dreaminess/lack of focus. PLEASE take the time to read through some of the other reviews of this very useful book, get a copy, & then see for yourself. Good luck!

I have hypoglycemia all my life and this book that was written in the 60’s was the best their was about the treatment of it. It was so helpful to me when I first found out I has hypoglycemia.
I had given it away years ago and wanted to have the book back.
Dr.Airola tells about the diet he found to be most beneficial to those with numerous symptoms and lists the diet and helps to keep your strength up and the low blood sugar balanced.
He was a sort of pioneer of the subject at the time.great bookseller sent it out quickly
excellent condition
I recommend the seller
