Romancing Mister Bridgerton PDF-From #1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn comes the story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, in the fourth of her beloved Regency-set novels featuring the charming, powerful Bridgerton family, now a series created by Shondaland for Netflix.

COLIN AND PENELOPE’S STORY

Penelope Featherington has secretly adored her best friend’s brother for . . . well, it feels like forever. After half a lifetime of watching Colin Bridgerton from afar, she thinks she knows everything about him, until she stumbles across his deepest secret . . . and fears she doesn’t know him at all.

Colin Bridgerton is tired of being thought of as nothing but an empty-headed charmer, tired of the notorious gossip columnist Lady Whistledown, who can’t seem to publish an edition without mentioning him. But when Colin returns to London from a trip abroad, he discovers nothing in his life is quite the same—especially Penelope Featherington! The girl who was always simply there is suddenly the girl haunting his dreams. When he discovers that Penelope has secrets of her own, this elusive bachelor must decide . . . is she his biggest threat— or his promise of a happy ending?

The Authors

Romancing Mister Bridgerton PDF

#1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn loves to dispel the myth that smart women don’t read (or write) romance, and in 2001 she did so in grand fashion, appearing on the game show The Weakest Link and walking away with the $79,000 jackpot. She displayed a decided lack of knowledge about baseball, country music, and plush toys, but she is proud to say that she aced all things British and literary, answered all of her history and geography questions correctly, and knew that there was a Da Vinci long before there was a code. Ms. Quinn is one of only sixteen members of Romance Writers of America’s Hall of Fame, her books have been translated into 29 languages, and she currently lives with her family in the Pacific Northwest.

Top reviews

Anz “I have never been more let down by a book in my life.

I picked up this series after seeing the television series and being intrigued by the Colin/Penelope romance, I waded through the previous books and was hopefull this would live up to it’s promise, reader, it does not.

Not only does Colin lose all personality and mischief, he becomes as boorish and “alpha” as every other male lead of the series.
“The big reveal” was ridiculous, we never see the repercussions of being Lady Whistledown and there was simply so much that could have been done with this story line. The author chose the most boring line imaginable.
So much could have been done with Penelope too, why does she have to lose a stone to be marriage worthy ? She was perhaps the most interesting character and her whole personality was reduced to nothing. We don’t really know why Penelope decides to print her work and we never find out what she felt about her succes or about her “retirement”. It’s brushed over so quickly, I was left disapointed and I doubt I will read the rest of the series.

As always the writing is mediocre at best with the dialogue being especially clunky, disjointed and silly, I can usually get past that if the story and characters are good enough. In this case, they weren’t.

Ritu B “Okay, so I think this might be my new Bridgerton favourite, so far!
Colin, the third Bridgerton sibling is the centre of this particular novel, but, actually, he isn’t.
The central character, the one I was rooting for, especially since I had come to love her in the last three books, Penelope Featherington, and her story, stole the show!
Penelope has spent most of her life being shuffled around behind her two older sisters, slightly plump, with that unfashionable red hair, she spends her seasons being dressed in inappropriately coloured clothing, making her the laughing stock of the ‘Ton.
Now at the ripe old age of eight and twenty, she is considered one of the spinsters, as her older sisters have secured their husbands, and her younger, more conventionally attractive sister is now the one in the eyes of the suitors.
She’s quite happy to be in the background. A true wallflower. At least no one else will notice her unrequited love…
Colin, meanwhile, a childhood friend of Penelope, one of the Bridgerton crew, and all-round ‘nice’ guy, finds himself developing feelings for her.
Oh, it was great how they got their happily ever after, and there was another HUGE reveal within this book!
Such fun! I would have finished it sooner if it wasn’t for this dang Lockdown, and work commitments!
Can’t wait… bring it on Book 5!”

S. J. Cooper “This book is probably the most beloved of all of the Bridgerton novels. It’s excellently written and has a great plot. And we finally discover who Lady Whistledown is!

This is the third time that I’ve read it, but it has been many years so I’d forgotten many of details of how the reveal happened.

There is one thing in particular, one behavior from Colin, that bothers me more than I remember it bothering me in the past, but to say what it is would be to spoil the plot. I’ll just say that, he has a few chapters towards the last quarter that had me going, “you’re a grown man! Get over yourself!” But it all works out in the end (this is a romance novel after all)!

Penelope is one of my favorite heroines ever. Her transformation from the very first book to her own book is quality character development. I feel like her insecurities are something that all of us women deal with at one point or another in our lives so Penelope is an extremely relatable heroine. Plus she starts gaining more confidence and standing up for herself. Which makes us readers want to cheer in triumph for her! Plus she gets the man of her dreams too 🙂

Its all quality storytelling!

There’s only one love scene, right in the middle. It’s not super detailed.”

Leona Delene “Full honesty: I had never heard of this book series until the Netflix series premiered. I was so excited to start reading the books but quickly became annoyed with the author’s style. There are moments where the writing is amazing and I actually cried or laughed with the characters, but then there are moments that took me totally out of the story and had me thinking the author didn’t care enough to develop the scene.

Despite these issues I was determined to at least get to Penelope’s and Eloise’s stories. I never imagined what a complete let down they both would be. How on earth are other readers ok with the fact that Colins whole personality is reduced to the-guy-who-is-always-hungry? The potential was there when Penelope found his journal, yet Colin somehow remained a passive participant that just went along, while constantly asking for food! All of his choices seemed perfunctory and it made me realize that the same was true for Benedict as well. The author decided these men should want to have a purpose so they did, but there was no real character development involved.

At least I can hope that the Netflix series will do a better job when it gets to Penelope and Colin. I can’t recall a time where a tv series does a better job adding depth to a character than the books.

I’m not going to bother to review Eloise’s book but once again Colin is just eating or asking for food. I will not be reading any more of this author’s work.”
