Cardiovascular pathology, including the pathology of sudden death, cardiomyopathy and surgical/medical treatment of cardiac disease. Industrial lung disease, mainly asbestos with some coal, silica and metal-related lung disease.
Autopsy work. He has been a teacher of the autopsy for many years, and examines for the Royal College of Pathologists (Certificate of Higher Autopsy Training). His autopsy-related interests generally revolve around cardiothoracic disease, although he is a recognised reviewer of complex cases including; maternal deaths, sudden cardiac deaths, complex medical disease, hospital complaint cases with some medico-legal cases.
He is a keen trainer, having worked as Educational Supervisor, Programme Director and Head of School for Pathology Trainees within the Yorkshire and Humber region of the United Kingdom. He is a member of the Court of Examiners for the Royal College of Surgeons and is an examiner for the Royal College of Pathologists.
