Before the American Heart Association existed, people with heart disease were thought to be doomed to complete bed rest — or destined to imminent death.
But a handful of pioneering physicians and social workers believed it didn’t have to be that way. They conducted studies to learn more about heart disease, America’s No. 1 killer. Then, on June 10, 1924, they met in Chicago to form the American Heart Association — believing that scientific research could lead the way to better treatment, prevention and ultimately a cure. The book came in ok condition but it did not come with the pamphlet, stickers, or reference guide that I paid for. Got screwed there.

Straight to the point and need to know information for my PALS. Minor changes between 2016 and 2021, but the teaching points and skills test for PALS are essentially the same.
Two hands encircling with thumbs on lower part of sternum of infant is highly recommended.
2 thumb-encircling hand technique: When two rescuers are present, the compression: ventilation ratio drops to 15:2, the same as for children.

I was first excited to buy the PALS book for my class until I received it. The book is not worth the price, almost $40. It looks like a copy of a bootleg original. There were a lot of typos & different fonts throughout the book; even a few ripped pages in the back. The words are fading too as if the copy machine ran out of ink. I was disappointed. It is not worth $40.
Solid new book

The inserts were in different locations (manual towards back, so I almost missed it, stickers/checklist in front), but everything seems as it should be. Finally got around to unwrapping the plastic and it says October 2016 edition. Another reviewer mentioned it was supposed to be Feb? 2017, but it seems that the description has since been updated to reflect this. Some of the text I’m my book is a little sketchy in some spots, but so far everything seems as it should. I haven’t noticed any errors with formulas or anything so far.

I guess I should have read the fine print. This is the 2015 version. There have been changes since then. If you’re looking for just general information, this will do. But, if you try to access the Pre-Test or other things on the student page online, the code in the front of the book won’t work. If PALS is a requirement for your job (as it is with mine), I suggest borrowing a book from your education dept.

This textbook is in perfect condition upon arrival. All extras were intact (cards etc). I’m looking forward to being able to reference this at home whenever I need to rather than borrowing from a friend.

Missing leaflets, stickers, damaged cover, damaged/ripped pages. Pages dog-eared. Written all over and covered in stickers. Looks like a child was allowed to play with it. Absolutely useless, can’t even use. Find someone with a new copy, don’t waste your time or money on a used version.

When I got the book many of the pages where bent and some where slightly ripped, but I can still read everything in the book and use it.

I bought this anticipating that it included the online manual as well as the online CE course. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE COUSRE. This is purely the book and online version of the book. I now feel that I have completely WASTED my money and had to pay an ADDITIONAL $40 for the course. I definitely feel that it should be noted in the item title or clearly outlined in the item description that the course is NOT included.

Still not as described and what I wanted. After my first complaint, got another sent to me, but it is the same problem I face: it contains the Course Manual and code to access the digital copy of the same Course manual, not the PHTLS book in digital form. I wanted a Course manual in print form and a digital access to the PHTLS book’s 9th edition, that what I was promised, but yet again got something else. My PHTLS course is over now, in the mean time I had to buy the e-book from somewhere else. Very diasaapointed.
