Features of Orthopedic Surgery Clerkship PDF

Orthopedic Surgery Clerkship PDF-This quick-reference guide is the first book written specifically for the many third- and fourth-year medical students rotating on an orthopedic surgery service. Organized anatomically, it focuses on the diagnosis and management of the most common pathologic entities. Each chapter covers history, physical examination, imaging, and common diagnoses. For each diagnosis, the book sets out the typical presentation, options for non-operative and operative management, and expected outcomes. Chapters include key illustrations, quick-reference charts, tables, diagrams, and bulleted lists. Each chapter is co-authored by a senior resident or fellow and an established academic physician and is concise enough to be read in two or three hours. Students can read the text from cover to cover to gain a general foundation of knowledge that can be built upon when they begin their rotation, then use specific chapters to review a sub-specialty before starting a new rotation or seeing a patient with a sub-specialty attending.
Practical and user-friendly, Orthopedic Surgery Clerkship is the ideal, on-the-spot resource for medical students and practitioners seeking fast facts on diagnosis and management. Its bullet-pointed outline format makes it a perfect quick-reference, and its content breadth covers the most commonly encountered orthopedic problems in practice.

Top reviews

This question review book is meant to be used with Ruben’s Pathology, but I used it with little Robbins and thought it was fantastic. The full-color photos are great, and every question has a very in-depth description for the answer. It is very good for basic pathology, but I would not recommend it as a board-review book, as it is a little too focused on specific details (molecular pathways, specific chemical mediators not otherwise mentioned) for that purpose.

good questions with lots of pictures

January 2, 2014

I think this is a great pathology review book. Although the explanations to the questions are not as in depth as Robbin’s review question book, the thing that separates this book from Robbins is the amount of pictures it has. One of my biggest weaknesses is histology pictures, and this book definitely has plenty. Overall, A great resource to use throughout medical school.

 Great for review

November 6, 2010

I’m a 2nd year med student. This book provides a good review before med school tests, and I also plan to use it later during Step 1 review. It’s well-organized and the questions are high-quality.

Very useful for understanding the mechanisms behind tons of diseases

Very useful for understanding the mechanisms behind tons of diseases. I like having the hard copy to always reference and it usually has good and to the point descriptions of everything with great pictures.

 Robbins is better

April 1, 2015

Not nearly as good as Robbin’s and Cotran’s… in so many ways. It’s “okay”… if you like to get more details/depth, and a better flow to the material, go with Robbins. Try both before you buy.
