Watch out for non-NANDA-I care plans
February 25, 2018
I am giving this 4 stars because I stupidly didn’t pay attention to the fact that some of the care plan diagnoses were not NANDA-I. I feel like most nursing students will feel my pain at doing care plans late into the night and not always noticing little details (like the missing NANDA-I mark over Dx). I almost failed a clinical day because I used a non-NANDA Dx in my paperwork. Now that I have looked back and figured out what I did wrong, I see that they are labeled when they are NANDA. I just think it would be better if there was some kind of marking to draw attention of sleep-deprived nursing students to the fact that certain ones are not NANDA approved. Other than that, the book has been a great resource thus far (4 weeks into second semester of nursing school) and I don’t foresee myself ever not using it during my academic career.
So, warning to all, while this book has great information and has been very useful, you just have to pay attention.

Amazing Book For Writing Care Plans
December 31, 2019
I am currently in my second to last semester of nursing school and this book has saved my life. My program made me buy the Ackley book but this book is worlds better! It clearly gives you related to factors that fit the NANDA nursing diagnosis, as well as specific interventions when writing smart goals. It will give you plenty of action, assess and teach interventions to make your smart goals a breeze. Buy this book. With the Ackely book my care plans took roughly 10 hours to complete. With this book I’m down to 6 hours. It’s worth the money.

Literally a life saver

We had a bunch of care plans due this quarter and since we hadn’t actually been taught how to write one (I’m serious), I made this purchase based on a few recommendations. I would have failed my clinicals without this. It’s so helpful with definitions, accurate descriptions, evidence based rationales, comordities, pathologies, you name it. If you need a full break down, I highly recommend. The care plans are based on NANDA criteria, and if it is not NANDA based best practice, the plan will say so. Also, since we are no longer allowed to making official nursing diagnosis, this is double helpful because it was published before that decision, so the rationale behind the diagnosis is a great breakdown for struggling students or students with no nursing background.

Best diagnosis book I’ve seen
March 15, 2018
I love this book. Wish I found it prior to my last semester of nursing school. Also wish my school would use it for their official diagnosis book – perhaps they think it would make writing up all those care plans too easy?? Three of my classmates purchased it after I showed them mine. Seriously, this book is well organized and super easy to follow.

Invaluable

I’ve only had this book for about a week, but it’s definitely better than any of the other care plan/NANDA books that I’ve used before. It breaks down care plans into medical type diagnoses, which is very handy. The interventions and rationales are the best part of this book. I’ve found it very easy to use, and I would highly recommend it. If you’re a nursing student working on a lot of care maps/plans, you will not regret buying this book.

MUST BUY!!!!! Nursing school lifesaver!!!

Must have book for nursing students. I bought this book my first semester of nursing school because I was having trouble understand nursing care plans. Let me just say it has totally upped my grade (and even my classmates as everyone wants to borrow it) and I FINALLY am now understand what the teacher is looking for when I have to write these everyday.
SMART DOBERMAN
Highly recommended, Kindle or iBook readable

Super excellent Nursing Care Planning manual for the beginning pre-nursing student. Buy one the semester before you start nursing school and you will be two steps ahead of everyone else. You can actually buy it for Kindle and carry it around to class, without the actual book weight. Look smart, be smart, act smart, and be a super RN caregiver. You won’t regret the purchase.
