I know this is quite sacrilegious to say in the colorist community but I was never a fan of Kerby’s work in the Mythomorphia days. I always could admire his work but it just didn’t appeal to me to color with the hidden objects and doodles. The last 2 books before this, Worlds Within Worlds and Fragile World, were when the tides started to change for me and Kerby’s work. He’s detailed buy imaginative. The paper quality is always high. I’ve just always been into portrait art and coloring and Kerby’s weren’t appealing to me.
This book is where high quality paper, large amount of images, fine detail yet enough open spaces for creativity, AWESOME subject matter and beautiful artwork all come together. This book is my favorite of his BY FAR. If you told me a few years ago I’d have purchase his book on pre-order I would have laughed at you. This book is stunning. The images are all varied and provide so many options. It’s printed double sided onbthe paper and some double page spreads go into the crease, but his books are also cheap enough and easily enough to come by that its not a huge deal to get another copy or 2. It takes the pressure off to be a perfectionist and helps to not limit myself to certain mediums.
This book is beautiful. It might be my first full book completion and coming from me that is saying something. I can’t stress that enough. I’m not a Kerby fangirl, but these pictures just pull me right in.
The end of the book also has a glossary and gives a short definition and description of each mythological entity, so I’m learning as well.
I couldn’t be happier with this book. It’s his best and I only hope he stays on this trajectory. Amazing work. I can’t wait to see everyone’s finished pages!
Fabulous Fantasy Coloring Book

Rosanes has produced perhaps his most beautiful coloring book yet. The incredibly detailed drawings are alive with dragons, beautiful damsels, and other mythic creatures. The pages are heavy paper which should take most media without bleeding through. However, I’d test your drawing instruments on a corner to make sure. Many of the drawings run over two pages, but that shouldn’t be an insurmountable problem.
The book begs for color. I’m not particularly artistic, but each page makes me feel like I can add some beauty to the drawings. I particularly like the description of the myths at the end of the book. The myths are gathered from around the world from Greenland to Egypt. I was unfamiliar with most of the myths, so I learned something. Learning about the myths made the pictures come to life.

This is his best one yet!! I know that I don’t need to tell everyone that but, it’s awesome!!! I love that I always learn something from his books! Paper quality is on point!! I think this maybe a book I’ll actually color till the end! Buy it!! You’ll love it!!

So lange gewartet und heute hatte ich das Buch nun im Kasten und das Warten hat sich gelohnt. Die meisten Mythen und Sagengestalten kennt man und man kann nur staunen wie wunderbar Kerby Rosanes sie dargestellt hat. Das bedeutet jetzt Wochen oder Monatelanges mit Freude colorieren 🙂 Die Qualität des Papieres ist wie gewohnt gut, schön weiß und stabil. Die Seiten sind beidseitig bedruckt. Es gibt viele doppelseitige Motive, da wird es in der Mitte wieder etwas schwierig aber das kennen wir ja. Ein paar Bilder habe ich angehängt damit ihr eine Vorstellung bekommt. Also ich bin zufrieden und empfehle dieses Buch natürlich gerne weiter. Für Anfänger vielleicht nicht so geeignet. Verpackung und Versand waren wie gewohnt gut und schnell. Ich wünsche euch viel Spaß beim colorieren 🙂
