AMAZING RESOURCE
December 10, 2019

This book is FANTASTIC! This is the main resource I used to study for anatomy exams this past semester (as an M1). It has no actual “textbook” content, just questions. It has a LOT of questions (several hundred per block) which is awesome! Some of them repeat the same topic a lot, but I found that nice, because I never missed a question about that topic again. The explanation about answers are all very thorough and well though out. You can learn just as much from this by reading why the wrong answers are incorrect, as you can by reading the correct explanation.

Helped me make an A in my class
July 26, 2018

I am not a medical student, but I used this book to help supplement my studies for a graduate-level Gross Anatomy class after my first exam did not go so well. This book is extremely valuable for studying for written or clinical-based Anatomy. The explanations are very helpful and it really gives you a lot of higher order questions that can help you prepare. When studying, I usually went through some sections of the questions between going over the in-class given material in the weeks leading up to the exam, and then I used it for a final review the days before taking the exam. My grade in the class significantly improved.

Good supplement to Grays but has errors
July 17, 2010

For the most part, this review book provides a good way to see whether or not you actually absorbed the material in Gray’s for Students and can take that information to apply them to USMLE-style questions. The sections are divided like the Gray’s textbook (Back, limbs, abdomen, etc). Each section has between 100-200 challenging board-style questions, some with accompanying images. Consequently, this book is very time-consuming and often times you will come across a question that really can’t be answered by the information contained in the Gray’s chapters alone. I find that supplementing Gray’s with BRS Anatomy makes answering these questions and mastering the information a lot easier. Time-wise, you’re probably looking at 3+ hours going through one section’s questions and reading every word of the answers in the back of the book.

You will find that some of the answers in the back of the book cite an incorrect page reference (especially in the abdomen portion of this review book). This can be very frustrating since you don’t know exactly what pages the question was derived from and a lot of times, I simply gave up trying to find the corresponding textbook pages. You should also know that the Gray’s textbook really doesn’t go into as much detail as these review questions. For some of the questions, you’ll have to consult another resource to really understand why a certain choice is the correct answer (BRS, Moore’s Clinical Anatomy, etc).

I subtracted one star for having numerous incorrect page references and another star for stating some iffy answers (wrong according to some anatomists). Overall, this review book is a good resource to have in preparation for an anatomy exam although BRS will probably be immensely more helpful in your studies.

Nice Kindle Book, Needs to take advantage of the platform
September 6, 2012

This is a good set of board style questions. They are organized in parallel to the Gray’s for Students Book. This allows a certain amount of continuity in the style and topics. It would truly benefit from cross-linking questions and answers for easier navigation, or taking advantage of interactive functionality in the .azw format. You should definitely bookmark the answers section to let you get their faster.
I have yet to encounter the “wrong” answers that have been commented on by others, however, I have only used the text for upper and lower limb to this point.
