This story is awesome, crazy and sometimes sad. I hate bullies and this story had a whole school full of them.
Josie’s high school years had been a nightmare and Angel, her best friend and protector had betrayed her. That was then but now she is a strong adult, living in a new city working her dream job. So what that Angel is the sexy bassist of Sons of Sin and basically her boss. Yes he’s in an up and coming rock band and she has to go on tour with them, and dress them. Well it’s tough for both of them because she’s never gotten over her classmates bullying or Angel’s betrayal and Angel has never gotten over Josie shutting him out when he needed her love and support most. Yeah, you could just have a conversation but where would the fun in that be? Josie has grown into a stunningly beautiful women and she seems to have perfected the art of running away from hurt and people who hurt her, no closure no confrontations. Angel like Josie has only focus on his own pain and sadness at losing Josie, but Josie was never really anything but his friend, she was never his girlfriend or lover. He never made a move. By now I’m 65% into the book and it’s getting a little repetitive. The story has not moved forward but it’s working at keeping me interested. When these two finally got together it had me fist pumping the air. My dog Princess Sofia gave me the look that said, oh yeah she’s losing it. I love the interaction between the other members of the band, especially Maddox and Ryder. Because there were names mentioned that I knew nothing about I downloaded The Men of River City- hope to find what or who broke Maddox’s heart.
The songs attached to this story had me humming while reading, the writer has great taste in music.
This book had a wonderful ending, I was not disappointed at all, the only thing that’s disappointing is that the next book in this series is in July, I’ll be patiently waiting. I give this book five stars and I highly recommend it.

I usually love books like this. Best friends, becoming enemies and finally achieving their HEA. But this book tested my patience. Josephine aka Josie sat on my last nerve, the repetition of what she went through in High School was internally lamented over and over and over again. Bullying is a very serious subject and shouldn’t be watered down in this fashion, and don’t get me started on her childish behavior during their reunion. Girl you are 28 and like Cami said grow up already. Angel for his part in their 10 year big misunderstanding/non communication was absolutely dense. For him to act like he had no idea what was going on was reason enough to move on, instead these two deserved each other. Two stars for the supporting characters. Oh by the way, the only way Josie goes down to the beach with a book in Orlando is if she drives 50 miles or so to the east coast.

Great beginning to a new series

I received an ARC copy of this book.

This is the first book in Nola Marie’s Sons of Sin series. This band was introduced in her Men of River City series, but it isn’t necessary to have read those books first. (But really, that was such a great series, why would you deprive yourself)? And happily, we do get to catch up with the guys and gals from River City in this book as well.

Goodbye is a Second Chance is a rockstar romance, but so much more as well. I’m not really a fan of that subgenre, mainly because I don’t feel that many rockstar romance are particularly realistic. But Nola Marie does an excellent job of showing the hard work, the hard partying, and enough technical aspects that it’s easy to get swept up in the chaotic nature of the lifestyle in this book. It was extremely well done.

But as I said, that isn’t all Goodbye is. Josie and Angel’s story is more than an enemies to lovers and more than a second chance romance. It’s raw, real, and like all of Nola Marie’s books, both heartbreaking and heartwarming. The fusion makes for a powerful story that’s difficult to put down. I in turns got misty, growled in aggravation, laughed, and very nearly cheered aloud while reading this. (At one point, my husband gave me a really weird look lol). Would highly recommend this book to anyone. And I’m so looking forward to the next! I just can’t decide yet who my favorite band member is yet. Dane’s just such a genuinely good guy, he’s adorable. Angel is the brooding, any fallen, well angel lol. Then there are Maddox & Ryder. So damaged, so mysterious, and so lovable. Of course, there are also a few more guys mentioned that I hope get stories as well (Liam, definitely). Maybe by the end of the series, I’ll be able to choose one… or maybe I’ll just take them all!!

Not sure how I stumbled across this author/book but I found myself sucked in almost immediately. These two characters had my emotions all over the place and I loved it. I would have liked to see something more done about the people who bullied Josie and caused so much crap to happen between her and Angel. I absolutely loved all the main side characters and can’t wait to read their books, I’m even going to go back and read The Men of River City series when I have some free time. Until then I’m off to read Bed of Nails because I need Dane and Cami’s story now. 🖤🔥🎵🎸🎵🔥🖤

This is a second chance romance. We all know that, but can high school kids recognize love when it’s right in front of their faces. Even adults don’t know how to acknowledge when it hits them over the head. Yet, here they are. Two friends who share and protect each other being thrown together, again. What you really want to know is this a good story. It is. Is it a spicy story. Yes, there is some spice. Here’s what the story is not; it is not a total train wreck. They are both broken in different ways, and they come together and apart when things get hard. I think Nola has written a best friends fall in love story when they’re ready.
