Marcus Holmes wrote a book dedicated to personal or face-to-face diplomacy and the mirroring system that serves as the mechanism for intention understanding. Highlighting the essence of human communication and the role of an individual’s sense, instinct, intuition, chemistry, social bonding, and an ability to read and comprehend nonverbal communication — all of which usually characterize leaders and diplomats — Holmes constructs a theory of face-to-face diplomacy.
