With so much BS in the world right now this book is a breath of fresh air, reminding anyone who reads it that no matter the circumstances, you are the captain of your soul, and YOU make the choices in your life.Ese to Master Jefe is about Raul R. Ramos, a young man whose family came to the United States for a better life.. Ramos’ family settled in the Firestone area of South Los Angeles. The Firestone area is economically depressed. Many of the residents live in poverty. The street gangs run the streets. Ramos’ father was an alcoholic and Ramos ran the streets at an early year.
Ese to Master Jefe is a raw, gritty, dark, and inspiring autobiography. From Ramos days as a violent street gangster until he overcame many obstacles to be able to enlist in the United States Navy. I was impressed that Ramos’ words were we are in control of our lives.
Ese to Master Jefe is a true page turner. I highly recommend this moving book.I don’t know the author, but I did grow up in the same neighborhood and time the author speaks of in the first half this book… as matter fact, many of the stories told here we’re family, friends, and neighbors, but this book will speak to a larger population than just that neighborhood.
It speaks to everyone who feels alone and wants to take the next step in life and not sure how do it.
One of the greatest takeaways from this book is to believe in yourself! do not allow your surroundings to dictate your failure! Instead use the naysayers as motivation to prove them wrong, use what you believe is lacking in your life as the fuel you need to start your path to success.
To the author Raul: thank you for your story, and thank you for your service. It is motivational inspiring and appreciated.
