these books are used by physicians.. but they also help lay folks , if they have some background, to understand many conditions.. the book is not for the faint of heart, and they have a good section on that, but is very useful.

Perfect for med school phys. My school is set up based on systems and group discussion. I was able to use this text to rock out in group. I had the pictures (which are priceless) and was able to explain anything the teach threw my way. It really is awesome!

I bought the original color atlas of physiology years ago as a graduate student in exercise physiology and found it to be an excellent reference. My wife is currently working on her master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner. Maybe not the most romantic Christmas gift, but I purchased the color atlas of pathophysiology for her to supplement her regular textbooks and to keep handy in the clinic. Not only does she love it, but her fellow students and the faculty were all very impressed with the text. Highly recommended.
